MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MARCH 1, 1973
CHAIRMAN FOLDY CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 9:00 P.M..
ALSO PRESENT WERE ALDERMEN FORD, XNUDSEN, AND MAYOR
GOTTFRIED.
• MAYOR GOTTFRIED REPORTED THAT THE TOWN OF NORWAY HAS
PASSED AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE HUSKEGO
BOATING AND SWIMMING REGULATIONS FOR LAKE DENOON. THE
ORDINANCE ALSO AUTHORIZES THE CITY OF HUSKEGO TO ENFORCE
SUCH REGULATIONS ON LAKE DENOON, AND FURTHER, STATES THAT
THE TOWN OF NORWAY ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATROLLING
LAKE DENOON.
THE COMMITTEE REVIEWED THE FIRST DRAFT OF AN ORDINANCE
REGULATING CONDUCT IN CITY PARKS AND SENT IT TO ATTORNEY
BUCKLEY FOR A FINAL DRAFT. THE PROPOSED ORDINANCE HAS
ALREADY BEEN REVIEWED BY THE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD.
• ALDERMAN KNUDSEN POINTED OUT THAT AN AMENDMENT IS NEEDED
FOR ORDINANCE #236, (THE STORAGE AND SALE OF JUNK CARS)
AS SECTION 3 AS NOW WRITTEN, DOES NOT HOLD A LAND OWNER
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COSTS OF REMOVING A JUNK CAR FROM
HIS PROPERTY IF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT BELONG TO HIM. THE
MATTER WILL BE DISCUSSED FURTHER AT THE NEXT MEETING.
A DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE REGARDING THE MAKE-UP OF THE PLAN
COMMISSION. NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
THE COMMITTEE DISCUSSED THE NEED FOR PROTECTION OF BIRDS
AND WILD ANIMALS IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS. ATTORNEY BUCKLEY
WILL BE ASKED TO DRAFT AN ORDINANCE FOR SAME.
