• MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JANUARY 25, 1973
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Foldy at 9:45 P.M. Also
present were Aldermen Knudsen and Ford and Mayor Gottfried.
Ald. Knudsen moved to remove the 40 mph speed limit on Field Drive.
Seconded by Ald. Ford, motion carried. This will provide for a 35 mph
speed limit on that road.
Ald. Ford moved to recommend to the Common Council that Gold Drive be
a through street. Seconded by Ald. Knudsen. Motion carried.
Ald. Foldy moved to recommend to the Common Council the approval of
a resolution creating a 4-way stop at the intersection of Somerset and
Longfellow and a two-way stop at Somerset and Hawthorne. Seconded by
Ald. Knudsen. Motion carried.
Ald. Foldy moved to recommend the placing of a "Yield" sign on the
southwest corner of Hilltop and Bay Lane and on the north side of Hedge -
wood at its intersection with Southern Heights Dr. Seconded by Ald.
Knudsen. Motion carried.
• The open burning ordinance was discussed. The committee agreed to
recommend that the Common Council adopt an ordinance banning all
open burning with the following exceptions: (This amends Section 9.22
of the Municipal Code)
•
(a) burning of brush or weeds on agricultural lands.
(b) fires set for practice and instruction of firemen or testing
of firefighting equipment.
(c) outdoor fire for cooking, ceremonies or recreation.
(d) small open flames for welding, acetylene torches, safety flares,
heating tar or similar applications.
Mayor Gottfried reported that he had written to the Chairman of the
Town of Norway pointing out the state requirement for a common boating
ordinance between the two communities.
The committee decided to withhold discussion of the proposed Land Division
Ordinance until after the public hearing.
Ald. Ford moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald. Knudsen, motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 11:15 P.M.
