RULES, LAWS & ORDINANCE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 14, 1972
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Foldy at 8:30 P.M. Also
present were Aldermen Knudsen, Mayor Gottfried and Gerald Lee, Building
Inspector.
Mr. Paul Benke, Durham Drive, appeared at the meeting regarding what he
considers to be a growing problem, that is, the unlimi_'ed number of traps
that could be installed in any one range. A Mr. Kametz, living in that area,
also voiced his concern. Attorney Buckley's opinion regarding the
possibility of limiting the number of traps was read. The committee
then discussed the various possible ways of limiting the growth of trap -
shooting ranges. Action was deferred on this matter until the next
meeting.
The Town of Norway will be contacted for a copy of their Boating Ordinance
to determine whether or not the validity of our ordinance is in jeopardy.
An ordinance regulating the storage and sale of junked automobiles
as proposed by Attorney Buckley was reviewed. Ald. Knudsen moved
to recommend that the Council adopt the ordinance as presented. Sec-
onded by Ald. Foldy, motion carried. The new ordinance will now be
enforced by the Police Department rather than by the Zoning Officer.
Ald. Foldy recommended adoption of Ordinance #235 (Re: Traffic Code)
subject to review by Police Chief Kraus. Seconded by Ald. Knudsen.
Motion carried.
Building Inspector Lee questioned if the city has received the final
copies of the new Land Division Ordinance.
The following ordinances are being drafted for review:
Swimming Pool
Topographical
Fire Code
Snowmobile
Parade Ordinance
Land Division
Discussion was held regarding the advisability of amending the ordinance
which establishes the membership of the Plan Commission to remove 1 th
the Engineer and replace him with a citizen member. Ald. Knudsen moved
to have the ordinance amended to replace the Engineer by a citizen
member and to require the approval of the appointment by the Council.
Seconded by Ald. Foldy, motion carried. It was also the feeling of
the committee that a personal interview of the appointee might be helpful
to the Council.
Ald. Knudsen moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Foldy, motion carried.
The meeting adjourned.
