PUBLIC SEWER COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
• MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 25, 1986
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Chairman
Penovich. Also present were Committee Member Sanders, Mayor
Salentine, Ald. DeAngelis, Sewer Treatment Plant Operator Scott
Kloskowski and those persons per the attached list.
A request was made for a sewer extension to a New Berlin home
located east of the Highway 24 Outdoor Theatre. Ald. Penovich
indicated that all costs involved with the requested extension
would be the responsibility of the property owner along with an
agreed upon dollar amount for providing a connection to another
community. After considerable discussion, it appeared that the
request would probably be withdrawn due to the costs involved.
Mr. Boesel appeared before the Committee to request a lateral
connection for a new home being built at S70 W17019 Hedgewood
Drive. The property was not provided a lateral at the time of
the sewer installation and that lateral extension is the
responsibility of the property owner. The property owner will
have to apply for a road opening permit.
Several residents appeared before the Committee to finalize plans
for the Oakhill Estates Sewer Project. The Committee will
research the City's policy on assessing triangular lots for a
• sewer extension at S68 W16879 Martin Drive. The sewer lateral
will approach the property from the east side and the property
owner will be advised as to the assessment when it is
finalized. The property owner at S67 W16825 Greenridge Trail
agreed to a 10' permanent sewer easement and a 15' temporary
construction easement which will allow for a manhole to be placed
on his property, thus removing it from the center of his
driveway. The Committee agreed that the front foot assessment on
S67 W16825 Greenridge Trail will be based on the width of both
the north and south side of the property abutting the proposed
road extension. Due to adverse topography, the properties
addressed W166 56764 Oakhill Drive and S68 W6666 Oak Hill Court
cannot be connected to the conventional gravity sewer system.
Therefore, the alternative of using grinder pumps will have to be
taken. The Committee directed the Sewer Treatment Plant Operator
to research the cost of the grinder pumps and report back to the
October 30, 1986 Public Sewer Committee meeting. The affected
property owners will be invited to review the costs with the
Committee at the October meeting.
The Committee discussed the Durhamswood sewer extension with Stan
Potrykus. Mayor Salentine will contact adjacent property owner,
Mr. Raimann, to determine future plans for his property.
The Committee reviewed the low quote for sealing 50 sewer
. manholes submitted by Clearwater Technology for $65.00 per
manhole. Ald. Penovich moved to recommend approval of the
quote. Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion carried.

The Committee reviewed the progress on the following forced hook-
ups:
Ludwig-Strampe - The property owners are to apply to
the State for permission to hook-up three properties
on one easement. The Sewer Committee requested this
permit be made available to them at the next Sewer
meeting.
E. J. Salentine - The Sewer Committee set November 1, 1986
as the deadline date for razing of this property.
Robert Klenz - The Sewer Committee reviewed Mr.
Klenz's request and agrees that he be assessed for
a 67 foot lot subject to his installing a 4 or 6 inch
lateral at his cost. The original plans called for
approximately a 10 foot 8 inch sewer main and one manhole.
The Committee reviewed the connection noncompliance of the David
Keehn property, S68 W15071 Janesville Road, and directs the
Building Inspector to obtain quotes for the forced hook-up of
this property to the sewer system.
• The Sewer Committee discussed the odor complaint at the McShane
Treatment Plant and requests that the citizens who live in the
immediate vicinity of the plant call City Hall when an offensive
odor is detected so that the emissions may be immediately checked
by the Sewer Treatment Plant Operator. All three pumps at the
plant are now operational.
The Committee reviewed the request from the Muskego-Norway
District to be reimbursed for the Sewer Usage for the Lakeview
School which is in the Town of Norway. A1d. Penovich moved to
approve the reimbursement. Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion
carried.
The modifications to the lift stations were reviewed. The Sewer
Committee authorized the City Engineers to go out for bids as
soon as practical.
The Northeast Treatment Plant has been dismantled and removed
from the property by Mr. John Glockner.
The meeting adjourned at 9:45 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
. Harold Sanders
