PSEM19810810PUBLIC SEWER COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AUGUST 10, 1981
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Salentine at 7:30 P.M.
Also present were Committee Member Klenz, Building Inspector Lee and
Mayor Gottfried.
Communication received from the Sewer Utility Clerk was received
regarding the Nygren property located at W144 S6744 Tess Corners
Drive (a duplex) which has been billed for sewer use as a single
family residence since 1973 when they were connected to the municipal
sewer system. Ald. Salentine moved to have Building Inspector Lee
send a letter billing the Nygrens as per past procedure. Seconded
by Ald. Klenz. Motion carried.
Holding tank dumping charges will be discussed at the next meeting
with James Kibbe.
Resolution regarding MMSD from Attorney Dale Arenz was reviewed and
discussed. The resolution calls for sewer charges by usage rather
than by equalized value as is common in Milwaukee County. It was
noted the potential sewer service area contained environmental
corridor land which has fiery limited development potential however is
still taxable. Various proposed methods of paying for sewer usage
and capital recovery were discussed, It was the opinion of the
committee there are no other options open to the City of Muskego
other than hooking up with Metro. The committee felt that further
contract negotiations in conjunction with assistance from other
contract communities would likely be most cost effective from the
city.
It was noted there will be a DNR required public participation meeting
at 7:00 P.M. on September 15, 1981 in the city hall just prior to
the Plan Commission meeting.
The committee will review the sewer utility budget at its next meeting.
Building Inspector Lee updated the committee on the Mahoney forced
hookup. Evidentally Zidar Plumbing, the low bidder, has found there
is additional work required due to extra plumbing found in the
cottage. Mr. Zidar will be requested to update the bid on the
project.
The meeting adjourned at 9;45 P,M.
