The committee deferred action on the report until its next meeting
at which time they will recommend to the Common Council the best
method of reserving committed connections.
The committee reviewed for Ald_. Knudsen the city's position regarding
connection to Metro vs. construction of its own major sewage treatment
facility. It was pointed out that the city is not under contract
with Metro and that a decision as to which route the city should take
will depend upon the cost effectiveness of the different proposals.
The cost effectiveness cannot be determined until the questions
regarding the separation of sewer and storm water in the Milwaukee
area can be resolved. The committee directed Ruekert and Mielke to
provide them with a report regarding the alternatives available to
the city.
