MINUTES OF MEETING HELD OCTOBER 12, 1972.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Schaumberg. Also present were
Aldermen Dumke, Knudsen and Foldy and Mayor Gottfried.and Ald. Ford.
Ald. Foldy extended a welcome to the City Officials of the City of New
Berlin. He also welcomed the residents living in the Linnie Lac area
of New Berlin advising them that this was not a public hearing so there-
fore whatever remarks they may have should be kept to a minimum.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the problems emanating from the
Linnie Lac area particularly potential pollution and silting. Mayor Earl
Rathke and several of the Aldermen of the City of New Berlin that were
present, indicated their concern regarding the matter and their willingness
to cooperate in any way they can to correct the problems. Mr. Walter
Harder, Vice President of the Linnie Lac Daprovement Association, indicated
that the people in the area wanted sewers and would be willing to work
towards that end. Mr. Mike Kreusers, Secretary of the Association, also
spoke in favor of their having sewers constructed within the area.
Mr. Donald Finch, Engineer from the City of New Berlin, explained that
the City of New Berlin has no plans to provide sewers in the immediate
future. He further indicated that the long-range plan was to provide
sewers in approximately ten years. Mayor Rathke indicated that the City
of New Berlin did not feel that holding tanks would be the answer to
the problem.
Ald. Ford reviewed the results of the testing by the Waukesha County
Health Department of several years ago and explained a view of the
situation which was that it would only get worse.
Ald. Schaumberg indicated that because of the limited capacity of the
Northwest system and because it was necessary to have the time to
evaluate the effectiveness of the Northwest Treatment Plant it would
not be likely that anything could be done, perhaps for a year or so.
It was generally agreed that the first step would be for the City of
Muskego to determine whether or not it was feasible to provide sewage
capacity for the residents around the Linnie Lac Area as well as the
business area at the intersection of Martin Drive and College Ave.
It was also agreed that once this determination was made communication
would be made with the City of New Berlin who would then begin the
necessary work for the construction of the sewers.
Mayor Gottfried thanked everyone for coming and assured the residents
of Linnie Lac they would be advised of development as it occurred.
The meeting adjourned at 8:46 P.M.
