MINUTES OF MEETING HELD THURSDAY, MARCH 7, 1996
• The meeting was called to order at 7:08 P.M. by Chairman
Patterson. Also present were Committee Members Suhr and
Salentine, Public Works Superintendent Loughney and those per the
attached list.
The Committee noted that the meeting was posted on March 1, 1996,
in compliance with the Open Meeting Law.
The Committee discussed status of Recycling. Supt. Loughney
reported that the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue was
here today, March 7, 1996, to audit the city's recycling program.
Twenty-five percent of the total tonnage is the goal for 1997
recycling program. The DNR stated that they would like to see us
make presentations to the school children on recycling. The
Committee would like a letter to be directed to BFI requesting
that the next newsletter include a report on how the City of
Muskego is doing with recycling and also to inquire of BFI how
often they go into the schools and with what type of educational
materials. Supt. Loughney stated that the State is targeting the
end of funding for either 1997 or 1998.
The Committee discusses status of Cable TV. Ald Suhr said that
based on the letter from Warner Cable Company, we should have an
audited report to review at the April meeting.
• There were no new reports to review on landfill agreements.
Ald. Salentine discussed with the Committee the need for different
microphones in the Aldermen's Room. Ald. Suhr moved to approve an
amount not to exceed $600.00 for new microphones and mixer for for
the Aldermen's Room for an improved sound system to be taken from
Contingency. Seconded by Ald. Salentine, motion carried 3-0.
Chairman Patterson noted the concern of tables and positions of
tables for viewing. The Committee will further discuss
alternatives.
Ald. Salentine reviewed with the Committee the Cable Ordinance in
regard to the two available Access Channels. Chairman Patterson
advised that he had spoken with Bev Greenberg of Warner Cable
Communication and she stated that Warner has no channels available
at this time. She indicated that Channel 15 is not Muskego's
other channel and they must keep the leased channel. Ms.
Greenberg felt that their upgraded access would not be completed
until 1997.
The Committee requests that a letter to sent to Ms. Greenberg
requesting that she or a representative appear at the April 4,
1996 Public Welfare Committee meeting to discuss the City's
request for two more channels; an educational channel to the High
School or Administration Building and a government channel for the
. City. Also, to inquire what the cost would be to hook up to the
school, along with any other costs involved to secure extra
channels. A letter will also be sent to the Muskego/Norway School
PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - PAGE 2

• District requesting a representative attend the April 4, 1996
meeting.
Mr. Randy Fischer, W141, S8063 Durham Drive, appeared before the
committee to request a holding tank for his property. Ald. Suhr
moved to recommend approval of holding tank as a temporary
disposal system until the City can provide sewer or a soil
absorption system. Seconded by Ald. Salentine, motion carried 3-0.
Ald. Suhr moved to adjourn at 8:20 P.M. Seconded by Ald.
Salentine, motion carried 3-0.
