PWM19951109• PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 1995 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Patterson. Also present were Committee Member Suhr and Salentine, Mayor David De Angelis, Supt. John Loughney and Ald. Rasmussen. The Committee noted that the meeting was posted on November 3, 1995, in accordance with the Open Meeting Law. The Committee discussed the status of Recycling. Chuck Ott, BFI, appeared before the Committee to discuss recycling and to review with the Committee the proposed newsletter to be sent out in November. Mr. Ott reported that a new schedule would also be included with the newsletter. He proposed the possibility of allowing the drop off of one tire per week, free of charge, at the drop-off center. The Committee also discussed the possibility of establishing additional drop-off hours, including a weekday drop off. Mr. Ott will look into the possibility of an additional drop-off on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening as well as expanded hours on Saturday. Ald. Rasmussen inquired as to provisions for assisting senior citizens with tire pickup. Chuck Ott indicated he didn't foresee a difficulty with that request. The Committee also inquired as to the possibility of incorporating a future City • newsletter with the quarterly BFI mailing and the Committee is to keep Mr. Ott informed as to status of City newsletter. The Committee reviewed memorandum from Utility Clerk Lyn Gulbins advising that Mr. Nobert Knackert, W199 S7043 Thornapple Trail, has requested that a recycling bin NOT be delivered to his home. He will use the curbside refuse service only. Ald. Salentine moved that a letter be directed to Mr. Knackert advising him that a recycling bin was to be provided to his residence since recycling bins are allocated to individual properties and not individuals. Seconded by Ald. Suhr. Motion carried 3-0. The Committee reviewed correspondence from Harold Manske requesting relief from the 1996 Refuse/Recycling charge as he uses the residence at S68 W18105 Island Drive as a summer residence and does not use the refuse/recycling service. Ald. Salentine moved to deny request of Mr. Manske and request that a letter be sent. Seconded by Ald. Suhr. Motion carried 3-0. The Committee discussed status of Cable TV. The Committee discussed letter of November 8, 1995, received from Mary Klisch, Warner Cable Communications in response to the City's request to receive an audited annual report as agreed upon in the contract between the City of Muskego and Warner Cable Communications. Ald. Suhr moved to send a letter to Warner Cable requesting an internal . financial report, with an audited financial report to be provided as soon as possible. Seconded by Ald. Salentine. Motion carried 3-0. Mayor De Angelis reported on his attendance at the recent CAMY Awards. Ald. Mayor De Angelis reported that legal expenses were approaching $15,000 for the Waste Management litigation. It was also noted that East Troy refuses to release the City of Muskego from its claim and there is potential conflict of interest as to the City's legal representation. There was nothing new to report on the EPI site. Metro -East expansion is approaching settlement, with settlement figures anticipated soon. Ald. Salentine moved to adjourn at 8:40 P.M.
