PWM19930517• PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 17, 1993 The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by Chairman Patterson. Also present were Committee Members Schneider and Dumke, Mayor De Angelis, Superintendent John Loughney and those per the attached list. Mr. Curtis Christie and Ken Schenkenberger from Best Disposal (Waste Management) and Tom Cascio and Tom Germany from Moeller Disposal Services, Inc. appeared before the Committee to discuss city-wide refuse pickup and curbside recycling. It was a consensus of both of the disposal companies that commercial properties should be a separate pickup and that any construction materials from residences should also be picked up separately. Large item pickup should be part of the City's specifications for bid as well as a possible 60 days start date from awarding of bid. Superintendent Loughney will contact several local communities to determine how they handle residential and commercial pickup and what regulations are in place for control. It was determined that all haulers must have permits. Best Disposal will supply a sample contract. The Committee discussed the Clean Sweep Program. • The Committee discussed waste oil/antifreeze recycling and tabled for the present time. The Committee discussed status of Cable TV. The pro -life series to be aired at 9:30 P.M. Ald. Patterson moved to request the City Attorney to review contract and provide information as to what the City of Muskego can regulate and what the Cable Club is allowed to air. Seconded by Ald. Schneider, motion carried. The Committee acknowledged receipt of map from Warner Cable outlining the Lake Ridge Apartments and request that a timetable for installation of cable be provided.
