PWM19930414PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14, 1993 • The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Patterson. Also present were Committee Members Simmons and Schneider, Public Works Superintendent John Loughney, Ald. David Sanders and Steve Tietz (Community Newspapers). The Committee discussed the status of Recycling. Supt. Loughney discussed with the Committee correspondence received from Safety-Kleen responding to his inquiry on waste oil, antifreeze removal and parts washer service. Safety-Kleen will remove waste oil and antifreeze on a regularly scheduled basis (1-16 week intervals) depending on need, based on the following price schedule: Schedule A 150 gallon service $ 55.00 Schedule B 500 gallon service $ 95.00 Schedule C 1,000 gallon service $135.00 Antifreeze Only: 0-125 gallons $105.00 126-150 gallons $126.00 251-300 gallons $147.00 Supt. Loughney will secure other quotes as the Committee felt that the above quote was too high. A memorandum from the Clerk's Office was reviewed as to a • survey that was done with the City of Waukesha and the Town of Brookfield. The City of Waukesha has contracted with Laidlaw for a two year contract and the Town of Brookfield has contracted with Expert Disposal for a three year contract. Chairman Patterson advised the Committee that an appointment has been scheduled with Best Disposal (Waste Management) to receive a quote for curbside garbage pickup/recycling. The Committee is still hoping for a July target date for mandatory pickup. The Committee acknowledged that payment has been received from Warner Cable for rental of area of Historical Society Site for housing of Satellite Dish for 1992 and 1993. The Committee requests that a letter be sent to Warner Cable inquiring as to what effect the new cable laws will have on cable rates for the City of Muskego. The meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M.
