MINUTES OF MEETING HELD OCTOBER 15, 1992
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by Chairman Patterson.
Also present were Committee Member Schneider, Mayor Salentine, Ald.
Misko and those per the attached list.
The Committee discussed status of Recycling.
The Committee discussed status of Cable TV and acknowledged
introductory letter from the new General Manager.
The Committee reviewed correspondence from Sam M. Sansone, Solid Waste
Manager of Waukesha County requesting that the City of Muskego send to
them a resolution adopted by the Common Council which adopts the
Franklin Metro Landfill agreement and agrees to the annual payment
being divided between Waukesha County with a 25% split to Waukesha
County and a 75% split to the City of Muskego to be used for Curbside
Recycling. Ald. Schneider moved to recommend approval. Seconded by
Ald. Patterson, motion carried.
Representatives from community organizations appeared before the
Committee to select recycling dates for 1993. Attached is the current
list for 1993.
The Committee discussed curbside garbage/recycling pickup. It was
noted that free dumping will cease as of January 1, 1993. It is
• anticipated that Stoneridge Landfill may not be open for another two
years. Ald. Patterson stated he will be contacting representatives of
Waste Management to discuss the status of the free dumping that is
presently being provided by Metro Landfill. It was noted that the
facilities plan for Stoneridge Landfill is still being reviewed by the
DNR.
Ruth Hough and a representative of HAWS appeared before the Committee
to present needs for additional funds for expansion of the present
facilities. They inquired if the City of Muskego could assist them by
increasing the fees 50 cents for dog licenses and then give the
additional revenue to HAWS for debt retirement on this new building.
The possibility of licensing cats was discussed. The Committee
recommended possible increasing of dog licenses at the Waukesha County
level so then fee could be collected uniformly.
Chairman Patterson alerted the Committee of a request received from
Warner Cable to install a stand-by generator for the Satellite Dish
located next to the Police Department. The Plan Commission will be
reviewing the amendment to the Building, Site & Operation Plan at their
meeting scheduled for October 20, 1992.
The Committee request that Superintendent Loughney supply them with
estimated costs for fencing in the area where brush clipping is to be
conducted next Spring, including the gate, driveway, gravel, etc.
