MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JUNE 11, 1992
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman
Patterson. Also present were Committee Members Simmons and
Schneider, Ald. Misko and Maintenance Man Dan Lepak.
The Committee discussed status of Recycling. Mr. Dan Lepak was
hired as the City's Recycling Coordinator. The Committee
reviewed correspondence received from Laidlaw Waste Systems,
Inc. regarding a "pilot" program they are proposing, which
would include the City of Muskego, and would introduce
recycling as part of their collection service. Discussion on
making curbside recycling mandatory for other waste collectors
was tabled. The Committee requests that a letter be sent to
Mary Ellen Ratzburg, Division Manager of Laidlaw Waste Systems,
Inc., stating that the Committee assumes that all literature
mentioned in her letter of May 15, 1992, will be sent to all
City of Muskego residents. The Committee also requests that a
letter be sent to all waste haulers licensed in the City of
Muskego inquiring if they offer curbside recycling services.
The Committee discussed Recycling dates for the month of July
and requests that the papers be notified that the Stoneridge
• Landfill Recycling Center will be closed on Saturday, July 4,
1992, and opened on both July llth and July 18th.
It was noted that the Committee will be purchasing four
additional bungy cords for recycling containers at the
Stoneridge site.
The City discussed status of Cable TV. Chairman Patterson
shared with the Committee a letter from Mr. Gary Owens of
Warner Cable Communications, Inc., indicating that they will be
allowing Big Bend air time on the Municipal Access Channel 7,
effective July 2, 1992, to air their Village meetings. Ald.
Simmons moved to immediately have a letter sent to Mr. Owens
advising that the Committee is not in agreement with sharing
Channel 7. Seconded by Ald. Schneider, motion carried.
Chairman Patterson advised that the Franklin Metro Landfill
Negotiating Agreement has been signed.
Chairman Patterson will draft a letter to be sent to all
organizations to inquire if they would be interested in
distributing the recycling magnets to all residents of the City
of Muskego. The Committee discussed a 50 or 100 payment, per
magnet, to the group distributing.
. The Committee requests that the Fall 1992 and the Spring 1993
Parks and Recreation Booklets contain Recycling hours.

The Committee reviewed correspondence from Humane Animal
Welfare Society (HAWS) of Waukesha County requesting the City
to pledge $15,400 to the HAWS building campaign, "Project
HUG". Ald. Schneider moved to deny request because of the City
not being in a present position to make a three to five year
commitment. Seconded by Ald. Simmons, motion carried.
The Committee reviewed correspondence from M. S. Schmidt, Inc.
regarding contaminants in recycling material and the Committee
will monitor the site more closely.
