MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JULY 17, 1991
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by Chairman
Patterson. Also present were Committee Members D. Sanders and
Simmons, and Ald. Taube.
The Committee discussed the status of Recycling. The budget for
next year must be completed by September 1, 1991.
Ald. Patterson discussed with the Committee recycling containers
for distribution to residents. The Committee determined that an
order will be placed for 3,000'kelly green containers at a cost of
$4.80 each. No tops or dividers will be ordered at this time.
After initial distribution, additional containers could be
obtained for $5.00 each.
A letter will be sent to the PTO regarding distribution of
containers through schools. The Committee will pay to the
organizations 250 for each container distributed.
The Committee requests that the City Clerk evaluate recycled paper
use now and determine 10% compliance in 1991 and 25% compliance in
is
1992.
The Committee requests that Supt. Loughney give a cost estimate to
asphalt the drives and areas under dumpsters at the Recycling
Center at Stoneridge Landfill.
The Committee discussed status of Cable TV. It was noted that
West Lakes Estates have not been connected to Cable and that
Warner Cable expects to be able to connect them shortly. Ald.
Patterson will write to Warner Cable Company to request service as
soon as possible, as well as a letter to the West Lake developer
explaining agreement with Warner Cable Co..
The Committee discussed status of Landfill agreements. Stoneridge
is waiting for County appointments before a meeting can be
scheduled. Emerald Park is awaiting DNR approval and Metro is
still negotiating.
The Committee discussed composting. BFI test site proposal is
still to be approved. Metro is planning some kind of composting
drop-off site. The Committee suggests that the Plan Commission
allow residents to use the drop-off site in Tess Corners.

The Committee reviewed memorandum from Mayor Salentine indicated
that he had spoke with Skip Glor of Waste Management who advised
that Waste Management will begin well testing the Larry Fischer
property on Hillendale on an annual basis.
The Committee reviewed Redistricting Map. Ald. Simmons moved to
transfer Block 215, 216 and 223 from District 6 to District 7 and
to transfer Block 201 from District 7 to District 6. Seconded by
Ald. Patterson, motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M.
