MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JUNE 6, 1991
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by Chairman Patterson.
Also present were Committee Members D. Sanders and Simmons, Mayor
Salentine and Mr. & Mrs. James Kohne.
The Committee discussed that status of Recycling. Henry Posbrig is the
on -site Recycling Coordinator and has worked two events. Six to ten
adults are needed for each event. The Committee requests that another
letter be sent to all groups alerting them of dates open for manning the
recycling center.
The number of residences in the City of Muskego is 5,062 and it would
cost approximately $25,000 to purchase 5,500 recycling bins. The
Committee will continue to discuss method of distribution and will
inquire how other communities have handled distribution. The City will
have approximately $57,000 to be spent by the end of December 31, 1991.
Ald. Patterson advised that he had spoke with the Peltz Corporation and
that a formal proposal will be forthcoming. The Committee requests that
a letter be sent to Peltz requesting formula for "upward market
fluctuations" as stated in their February 6, 1991 letter. Supt.
Loughney is constructing additional steps and a second set of signs have
been ordered. Ald. D. Sanders moved to install a port -a -pot at the
Recycling Center at Stoneridge. Seconded by Ald. Simmons, motion
carried.
• The Committee discussed status of Cable TV. Mayor Salentine alerted the
Committee on problems with cabling being provided to West Lakes Estates
and various other subdivisions. Mayor Salentine will contact Mr.
McMillan to advise of time restriction in signed agreement between
Warner Cable & the City of Muskego.
Stoneridge Landfill has filed with the City its 2nd expansion. A
meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10, 1991.
Stoneridge Landfill has nothing planned for composting and Metro
Landfill is gearing up for a five acre facility which the City of
Muskego will be allowed to use.
The Committee reviewed proposed map for the census for the City of
Muskego to aid in redistricting. The Committee recommended that
Public Hearings be set and the map be presented.
The Committee reviewed salvage and recycling operation for Kohne. The
Kohne's insurance carrier approved site with addition of fire
extinguishers and "no smoking" signs which has been done. This site is
grandfathered in. Fire inspections have not shown any violations.
Building was approved for storing of recycables which include paper.
Ald. D. Sanders moved to recommend approval of permit. Seconded by Ald.
Simmons, motion carried.
