PWM19910509PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 9, 1991
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman
Patterson. Also present were Committee Members Simmons and D.
Sanders.
The Committee discussed the status of Recycling. The last
recycling checks to volunteer groups averaged $238.00 per
organization for a six month period. The Committee determined
that it is receptive to allowing groups to repeat if there is a
vacancy in the schedule.
The Committee requests that a letter be sent to Peltz Bros.
Corporation requesting a hardcopy of the paper contract between
City of Muskego and Peltz Bros. and also to inquire if they are
accepting chipboard and/or corrugated cardboard and the
requirements.
The Committee also requests that Delta Group be contacted to
inquire on their requirements as to aluminum recycling and what is
the reimbursement.
• It was the Committee's determination that someone is needed to
monitor and answer the "what if" questions that arise due to a
different volunteer group being at the Recycling Center for every
event. Ald. Patterson moved to hire the City's part-time
maintenance man, Henry Posbrig, to open and close the site,
monitor and direct volunteer groups, notify city of need for
compaction of aluminum, pulling of full dumpsters, and generally
keep the Committee informed as to operation of site.
The Committee requests that it be supplied with the number of
residences in the City for assistance in determining amount of
recycling containers for residential use. The Committee is
contemplating putting a coupon in an advertising/educational
brochure good for a container with a $1.00 donation.
The Committee is requesting that the City Clerk check to see if
any more recycling fund money is expected from the State and
whether they are any bids being let for recycling bins that the
City could participate in.
The Committee will send a letter to Waste Management to inquire on
the status of their composting plans.
The Committee reviewed letter from Warner Cable Company discussing
wall fish and request that a letter be sent requesting that wall
• fish be clarified as it is the Committee's understanding that
coming in at basement level and going through basement ceiling to
first floor living area is not a wall fish.
