PWM19910307. PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MARCH 7, 1991 The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by Chairman Patterson. Also present were Committee Members Simmons and D. Sanders. The Committee discussed Recycling. Ald. Patterson advised the Committee that Lakeview School will not be handling the Recycling Effort on March 16th; it will now be handled by the Muskego/Hales Corners/Franklin Newcomers Club (Nancy Heitz - S68 W13612 Bristlecone Lane). It was noted that a sponsor is needed for the April 6, 1991 date. The April 20th date will be handled by the Muskego Flames Girls' Baseball Team. The Committee determined that the Muskego Booster Club will be paid the minimum $50.00 even though the Recycling Effort was not accomplished on March 2nd. The Committee discussed a possible starting date for Recycling at Stoneridge Landfill to be targeted for the 1st Saturday in May and determined that the Recycling Effort will be held at Stoneridge Landfill on the 1st, 3rd & 4th Saturdays of the month; beginning with May 1991. IV Ald. Patterson will contact Warner Cable Co. to inquire on advertising for the Recycling Effort. Ald. Patterson moved to direct the City Clerk to proceed to apply for County matching grants to be used to purchase plastic recycling bins. Seconded by Ald. Simmons, motion carried. A flyer will be put together by March 16th to stipulate the Recycling times, location, types of materials accepted; along with an expanded explanation of types of plastics being accepted. Ald. Patterson will draft a letter to Best Disposal Service to advise of the need for extra newspaper dumpsters for the Stonerige site. The Committee discussed composting. Ald. Patterson read correspondence received from Durham Hill Nursery advising they were till interested in working with the City on composting. Ald. Patterson is working with the Metro Landfill in Franklin to allow brush drop-off. . Public Welfare Committee - Page 2 March 7, 1991 Ald. Patterson moved to authorize expenditure of State Recycling funds to construct the Stoneridge Recycling Site; purchase and hauling of stone note to exceed $7,000.00 and signage not to exceed $1,500.
