PWM19900913• PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 13, 1990
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Patterson at
8:20 P.M. Also present were Committee Members D. Sanders
and Simmons, Mayor Salentine, Recreation Director Jacobson
and those per the attached list.
The Committee reviewed status of Cable TV. Representatives
of the Cable Club attended and discussed status of Cable TV
Club. There are presently 6 members. Coordination in the
past was through the Recreation Supervisor. The
representatives stated that the equipment is barely adequate
and training is needed. Ald. Simmons stated that Warner
Cable Co. has offered their help in that regard. Some
streamlining of equipment needs to be done. The Committee
determined that the existing local programs such as the
council taping, program taping, monthly city calendar,
etc., requires the Recreation Director to coordinate with
the Cable Club. Committees and City Officials can request
to have items aired on the local access channel recognizing
there are limitations to number of items that can be listed.
The Committee discussed Recycling. It was noted that the
• Manager of Parkland Mall is tentatively receptive to
locating a drop-off center at the Mall. Specifications will
have to be prepared and let for bid. November 1st is the
tentative start-up date. An ad should also be placed for a
Recycling Center Coordinator, part-time, for ten (10) hours
a week comparable to the part-time maintenance position.
The Committee was receptive to giving the present
maintenance person first option. The Committee discussed
various ways to educate the public through cable TV,
newspaper ads, flyers, mailing, tax bill insert, etc. It
was decided to start with a newspaper ad. Volunteer groups
will man the Recycling effort on Saturdays, 8:00 A.M. until
12:00 P.M. and will receive $50.00 per Saturday. The
Committee requests that letters be sent to the following
four groups to schedule for November:
Pack #118 - Cub Scounts (St. Leonard)
Nancy Hietz-PTO
Bette Antoniewski - Girl Scouts
Little Muskego Lake Association
The Committee discussed Youth Activities and will review
with Women's Club.

Wednesday, October 31, 1990, from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
