PWM19890209PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO • MINUTES OF MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 9, 1989 The meeting was called to order at 8:15 P.M. by Chairman Patterson. Also present were Committee Members Penovich and Taube, Mayor Salentine and those per the attached list. The Committee discussed Recycling possibilities with representatives from Waste Management. A 20 yd. roll -off divided into four (4) compartments can be made available to the City to be used at the landfill site or at an alternate site. Waste Management will also provide a 15 yd. box for paper. Waste Management will take lugger boxes at landfill to Miller Compressing or Peltz at no charge, for the next twelve months, if it is in the metropolitan Milwaukee area. The Committee is requesting that all civic organizations be invited to attend the March 9, 1989 meeting to discuss Youth Activities & Recycling and requests that this announcement be put on the Public Access Channel. Mr. George Meinholz advised the Committe that the feasibility study for the Muskego Landfill was submitted to the State in mid - January and that it usually takes 90 to 120 days to obtain approval. At the time that approval is obtain, negotiation meetings will be scheduled and the Plan of Operation will commence. • The Committee reviewed Waste Management's request for extension of present contract and permit. They are requesting a one year extension of the contract that presently expires on March 31, 1989. Ald. Penovich moved to extend contract 21 months with an increase of $2,500 per year and free dumping for Muskego citizens for the life of the site with 90 day notice of closing. Seconded by Ald. Taube, motion carried. The Committee reviewed information supplied by County Supervisor DeAngelis regarding Mass Transit Service from downtown Milwaukee. The Committee deferrd action pending input from Chamber of Commerce. The Committee reviewed the Status of Cable TV and requests that the Clerk write a letter to Attorney Molter to take appropriate legal action to secure $50,000 Franchise Bond and $20,000 Street Restoration Bond. The Committee reviewed minutes of the previous meeting held on January 12, 1989. Ald. Taube moved to correct minutes to delete "possibly Cinemax will also be added to Basic". Seconded by Ald.
