PWM19850502• PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 23 1985
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tomczyk at 8:00
P.M. Also present were Committee Members Hilt and DeAngelis,
Mayor Salentine, Recreation Supervisor Jackie Schweitzer, John
Ingersoll and those per the attached list.
Recreation Supervisor Jackie Schweitzer asked the Committee to
review the contract between Ingersoll Cable and the City to see
what equipment must be provided for public access use by
Ingersoll Cable. Mr. Ingersoll discussed taping procedures and
what machinery he would be giving to the City.
Several residents appeared before the Committee objecting to the
Playboy Channel. They felt that channels like Playboy have a
detrimental affect on their children and the Community. They
stated that some channels are not scrambled enough and can be
seen quite clearly. Mr. Ingersoll maintained that Playboy was
never sent out without complete scrambling. He participated in
an open discussion on all aspects of cabling and the
ramifications of nudity programming. Mr. Ingersoll also said
that if he received a petition with 300 to 400 signatures stating
• that they would disconnect because of Playboy being offered, he
would consider taking Playboy off of Cable.
The Committee reviewed the Cable TV Status Report with John
Ingersoll. All homes in Muskego will be cabled, even Union
Church Road and Highway 45 from Loomis south, within another
year.
The Committee reviewed Ordinance #531 - An Ordinance to Create
Chapter 28 of the Municipal Code of the City of Muskego Entitled
"Water Utility".
The Committee reviewed Ordinance #532 - An Ordinance to Amend
Chapter 2, Section 2,09 (1) of the Municipal Code.
The agreement from Waste Management was not received, therefore
the item was dropped from the agenda.
Respectfully submitted,
Ald. Frank DeAngelis
Secretary
