PWM19840621PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JUNE 21, 1984
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tomczyk at 7:00
PM. Also present were Committee Member Hilt, Mayor Salentine,
Aid. DeAngelis, Ald. Penovich, Charles Damaske, George Meinholz,
Michael Berg and John Ingersoll. Ald. Gaetzke was absent.
The Committee discussed the water usage fee for the Industrial
Park. Ald. Tomczyk recommended directing the City Attorney to
draw up the necessary papers taking whatever steps are necessary
to enable the City to charge for water usage in the Industrial
park.
The Committee discussed the contract with Waste Management. Ald.
DeAngelis stated that a three year contract was too long. Waste
Management felt it would be to the best interest of everyone to
have a contract for the duration of the landfill project. Ald.
Tomczyk recommended to the Common Council approval of the
Landfill Contract. Waste Management will draft the new contract
by June 26, 1984, for review by the City Attorney. The Contract
will be for the term necessary to complete the existing facility
to the requirements of the DNR with the fee paid to the City to
be increased by $5,000.00.
The Committee reviewed Ingersoll's Cable TV Status Report of June
21, 1984. Mr. John Ingersoll reported that he was going to shut
down construction crews to enable crews to become current on the
restoration work. Mr. Ingersoll reported that it would be at
least a month before he would be in the Denoon area.
The Committee discussed Assembly Bill #1139 which has been
amended. The amended Bill removes the police power from City
Officials but allows a provision wherein the municipalities other
than Class 1 cities where it is deemed desirable to grant these
powers to members of the Common Council, must enact an
ordinance. The Committee directed the City Clerk to obtain a
sample copy of this ordinance from the League of Municipalities.
The minutes of the May 17, 1984 meeting were reviewed.
Respectfully submitted,
Ald. Daniel J. Hilt
Acting Secretary
