cable TV to the city's residents.
The committee's members questioned what progress has been made to
reduce non -point pollution from the Schaefer property. Mayor Gottfried
advised the committee that Mr. Erdman of the Soil Conservation Dept.
has been in contact with the owner but no specific plan has been
developed. Ald. Steinberg moved to authorize- Mayor Gottfried to
contact Mr. Erdman and urge that the matter be resolved as quickly
as possible. Seconded by Ald. Weed. Motion carried.
The committee discussed at length the status of the landfill site on
Wauer Lane. It was noted that the State has granted Waste Management
and Mr. Wauer the right to explain the operation north of Wauer Lane.
Mayor Gottfried indicated that the city's agreement was provided for
this expansion. He indicated that it was estimated that with the
expansion the site could last up to 1985, however, the city's contract
with Wauer and Waste Management expires January 1, 1983. The committee
agreed to consider the possibility of expanding the landfill site
an additional 25 acres which could provide dumping facilities for the
citizens of the community up through 1990. The committee directed
Mayor Gottfried to invite Mr. Don Otter of Waste Management to its
• next meeting to discuss the matter.
Mr. Kela, S66 W18150 Hardtke Drive, appeared before the committee to
discuss the problems he is experiencing with the burning of rubbish
close to his lot line. Ald. Radtke indicated he would look into the
matter.
The committee discussed the status of the solid landfill site on Tans
Drive. Building Inspector Lee advised the committee that the city's
engineers have determined that the final grade has not been reached
40 and that there is room for the necessary final lift of topsoil. It
was agreed that the site will be monitored periodically to make certain
the restoration plans approved by the city are followed
