MINUTES OF MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 28, 1979
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ford at 7:40 P.M. Also
present were Aldermen Van Lanen, Wallner and Pienkos, Librarian
Kathy Horton, Mr. Wayne Salentine and Mr. Ed Turzinski
The committee once again discussed the proposed snow emergency
"hot line" service. The committee agreed to proceed with the
program this winter and Ald Ford will issue a news release to
the news media. It will be primarily a volunteer "people -helping -
people" effort.
The committee discussed a proposal for an information and referral
service for senior citizens and handicapped or disabled persons
The proposal was one of the recommendations made recently by the
Senior Citizen's Study Committee.
Librarian Kathy Horton stated the Library Board had also discussed
the matter and recommended that such a program could be a logical
• extension of the Library's "Outreach Service". Ald. Van Lanen
moved to recommend to the Finance Committee that the "Outreach
Service program be continued after July 15th when the CETA funding
expires and that the senior citizen information and referral service
become a part of the "outreach" person's job description. Seconded
by Ald. Ford. Motion carried.
Ald. Van Lanen moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald. Ford. Motion
carried. The meeting adjourned at 8 20 P.M.
