PWM19740211PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO • MINUTES OF MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 11, 1974 The meeting was called to order at 8:25 P.M. by Chairman Ford. Also present were Mayor Gottfried, Aldermen Knudsen, Wallner, Czarnecki, Building Inspector Lee and Mr. Roland Linck. The committee discussed procedures necessary for making the recently completed basement meeting room available to the public. Aid. Ford will contact the custodian to see if he will be available during the evening to lock up after meetings. Aid. Ford will also bring copies of Park & Recreation regulations for the use of park buildings. The room in question was completed by the Muskego Lions Club. Aid. Ford moved to authorize the use of available basement space for an office for the Park Superintendent. It is expected that the Park and Recreation Dept. will furnish time and materials to complete an office. Seconded by Aid. Knudsen, motion carried. Aid. Ford reported that he contacted Mr. Norman Thomas regarding the status of the Thomas landfill site. Mr. Thomas reported that his engineer con- sultant is attempting to determine how much total waste can be deposited in the pit and how much on -site cover is available. This information is • required by the DNR. The Frank Moritz property on Hillview Drive was discussed by the committee. Mayor Gottfried will obtain additional information before any action will be taken by the committee. Aid. Knudsen asked Building Inspector Lee to give a report on the Froelich property on Hillendale Drive. Mr. Lee reported that although the premises are unsightly and most of the machinery scattered about is farm implements and we, therefore, cannot require the owner to remove them. Mr. Lee will continue to search for ways to get the property cleaned up. Aid. Knudsen moved to recommend that the Common Council indicate its support for the compromise version of State Senate Bill 37 and State Assembly Bill 766. The Joint Conference Committee is expected to report a joint bill out by February 15th. The two bills taken together amount to a major program of rehabilitation for Wisconsin's inland lakes. Seconded by Aid. Ford and the motion carried with Alderman Wallner voting "no". The committee continued its on -going discussion of the operation of the Building Inspection Department. Enforcement of ordinances was discussed and will continue at the next meeting with discussion of the Housing • Code and the Building Code. Aid. Ford moved to adjourn, seconded by Aid.
