PWM19660727PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO • SPECIAL MEETING HELD JULY 27, 1966 Chairman Wieselmann called the meeting to order at 8:45 P.M. Present were Alderman Lentini, Alderman Budish and Mayor Gottfried. . This special meeting was called to inform the citizens of the southern portion of Muskego as to the status of the Wisconsin Electric Power Company's proposed transmission line. Alderman Wieselmann explained to the people what had taken place between the Council and Attorney Hippenmeyer. The following citizens were present: Hans Keiser, S103 W19215 Kelsey Dr., Muskego Harold DeBack, W198 S10856 Racine Ave. Mrs. Gerald Loughney, R# 1 Box 145, Big Bend, Wis. James Maney, R# 1 Box 93, Big Bend, Wisconsin Wayne Salentine, R#3, Muskego George Salentine, R#3, Parker Dr., Muskego Alvin Guhr, R# 3, Muskego, Wis. • Mrs. Loughney explained that she had contacted an attorney on this problem as to whether it would be best to sell their property to the Power Company or to lease it. It was suggested to the citizens present that their best course of action would be to obtain their own legal Counsel. By the general discussion of the people it was their feeling that they were being treated unfairly by the Electric Power Company. Alfred and Carl Wauer appeared before the Committee to discuss the dump problem. Mr. Wauer informed the Committee that they have purchased a new tractor and that the condition at the dump has improved. They also have erected a cable to separate the dumping of brush and garbage. Mayor Gottfried stated that he had inspected the dump site on this particular evening and it looked very good except that one small area was still burning. Mr. Alfred Wauer explained that the big problem was the tremendous amount of dead elm coming in which must be burned. He said it is impossible to bury the stumps, sofas, stuffed chairs, etc. It was agreed by the Committee that a letter would be sent out to all of the citizens of Muskego to make them aware of the dumping • restrictions. Also a new dumping permit would be issued to all citizens which would have to be shown when entering the City dump site. L7 The meeting adjourned at 10:15 P.M. je Respectfully submitted, Edmund A.
