PUM20010618CITY OF MUSKEGO PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMITTEE MEETING Approved Minutes of Meeting Held Monday, June 18, 2001 Chairman Dave Sanders called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Present were Committee members Ald. Rick Petfalski and Ald. Mark Slocomb. Also present were Utilities Superintendent Scott Kloskowski, Bldg Inspection/Engineering Director Sean McMullen, Ruekert & Mielke representative Rich Eberhardt, and those per the attached list. It was noted by Chairman Sanders that the meeting was posted in accordance with the Open Meeting Law. Approval of Minutes of Previous Meeting Ald. Slocomb moved to approve minutes of meeting held May 21, 2001 Seconded by Ald. Petfalski, motion carried. Rich Eberhardt presented status of projects list dated June 18, 2001 The Committee discussed the recent sewer backup at the North Shore Drive lift station. Residents voiced disapproval of the insurance company's handling of the matter Residents were instructed to file their claims with the City Clerk. A letter will be sent to affected property owners instructing them to forward their claims to City Hall. SEWER UNFINISHED Status of Town of Norway Contract/Current Sewer Rates — Superintendent Kloskowski advised that the DNR has denied the claim and the City attorney is moving forward with the lawsuit. Status of Sewer Metering — Superintendent Kloskowski advised that approximately 35 properties remain to be metered. Certified letters will be sent to affected properties advising them of a deadline of the July Public Utilities Committee meeting date to have their meter installed or an appropriate fine will be levied. Status of MMSD Proposed Storm Water Rules — There was nothing new to report. Further Discussion on Claim Received from Zaharopoulos — Boxhorn/Groveway/Ryan Sewer Project - Superintendent Kloskowski recently forwarded a letter to Mr Zaharopoulos offering the $5,350.00 less the Ruekert & Mielke costs of $1,826.51 No response has been received to date. Ald. Slocomb moved to defer Seconded by Ald. Petfalksi, motion carried 3-0. • Public Utilities Committee Minutes — 6/18/2001 — Page 2 Status of Alternatives for In -line Storage at McShane Lift Station - Rich Eberhardt updated the Committee on the research of the pipe materials. Review of Connections/North Cape/Ryan & Loomis (Durham Hill Nursery) — Possible Forced Hookups - Superintendent Kloskowski advised that there will be one connection with two extensions until July, 2001 Sean McMullen updated the Committee on the status of the Durham Hill Nursery. Further Discussion on Acquisition of Sewer Televising Equipment — Superintendent Kloskowski advised that a demo of the equipment will be set up for the week of June 25th or 29th NEW BUSINESS Discuss Penalty Late Charges for Sewer — Aid. Petfalski moved to approve 1 % penalty. Seconded by Aid. Slocomb, motion carried 3-0. Review Request to Encroach into Sanitary Forcemain Easement/Pleasant View Condominiums - The Committee discussed request. Aid. Slocomb moved to deny request. Seconded by Aid. Petfalski, motion carried 3-0. 40 Review Revised Sewer Plans for Dreamland Development — The Committee reviewed sewer and water plans for the development. Aid. Slocomb moved to approve contingent on meeting the approval of Ruekert & Mielke and Sean McMullen and rescinding previous approvals. Seconded by Aid. Petfalski, motion carried 3-0. WATER UNFINISHED Status on Potential Impacts to Well #7/Status of Stoneridge Groundwater Remediation — There was nothing new to report. Status on Proposed Electrical Power Plant — New Berlin — There was nothing new to report. Status of Repainting of Water Tower — Rich Eberhardt advised that notices were sent to phone companies having equipment located on tower advising of upcoming painting.
