CITY OF MUSKEGO
PLAN COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES UNAPPROVED
7:00 PM Tuesday November 16, 2004
Muskego City Hall, Muskego Room, W182 S8200 Racine Avenue
PUBLIC HEARING for a Conditional Use in accordance with Section 6.03 of the City of Muskego Zoning
Ordinance for the Rusdahl property for the purpose of defining a barn as a Rustic Structure located in the
NW ¼ of Section 13 (Tax Key No. 2210.989).
PRESENT
Acting Mayor Salentine, Alderman Buckmaster, Commissioners Hulbert, Schaumberg,
Simpson, Michalski, Interim Plan Director Muenkel and Recording Secretary Asti.
ABSENT
Commissioner Stinebaugh.
Acting Mayor Salentine declared the Public Hearing open at 7:00 p.m.
Acting Mayor Salentine asked the Commission if there were any questions, comments or
concerns. There were none.
Acting Mayor Salentine asked for members in the audience to address the Commission with
their input of concerns, questions, comments, etc.
Mrs. Stanley Dunahee, S82 W13431 HiView Drive, addressed each Commission member
asking if each individual personally looked at this structure. All but one of the Commissioners
answered yes. Mrs. Dunahee stated that the pictures in the packets are deceiving. The
pictures show the barn to be in better condition than it actually is. The trees are hiding holes in
the roof. The boards are splintering at the base. Over the past thirty years, this structure has
been described as an eyesore. This structure is not a unique barn, it is a machine shed with a
dirt floor, which is not typical of the country living. She is doubtful when the structure was
constructed, as there is no evidence that it was built in 1901. There is no date stamped on the
building. This could be considered a blighted structure under State Statue. Mrs. Dunahee is
questioning the integrity of the plan staff for recommending approval of this petition. The
petition is made for the wrong reason, not because the structure is truly a rustic structure but for
personal gain. She is not in favor of this structure being designated as a rustic structure.
Mr. Frank Starich, W191 S7663 Racine Avenue, requested that this structure be allowed to
remain. This is a reminder that Muskego was once a farming community. Mr. Starich is in
favor of the barn to remain on the property.
There being no further questions or comments, the Public Hearing was adjourned at 7:09
p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandra S. Asti
