PLAN COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES
Tuesday October 16, 2001

In accordance with Chapter 17:6.03 of the Municipal Code, to consider the amendment to a
Conditional Use Grant for Paws Inn to expand commercial kennel operations from 50 dogs to 100
dogs, located in the SW ¼ of Section 20 (Tax Key No.2239.999 / S92 W19918 Henneberry Drive).
PRESENT: Mayor De Angelis, Alderman Le Doux, Commissioners Gummer, Schaumberg,
Hulbert, Plan Director Turk, Assistant Plan Director Wolff and Recording Secretary Asti.
ABSENT: Commissioner Brodel
Secretary Asti reported that the meeting was properly noticed in accordance with the Open
Meeting Law.
Mayor De Angelis declared the Public Hearing open at 7:10 p.m.
Assistant Plan Director Wolff stated that a Conditional Use has been on this site since 1980.
Petitioner is proposing to construct a 22’ x 38’ building addition with sixteen (16) outdoor runs,
and increase the number of dogs to be boarded from fifty (50) to one hundred (100). The
gravel drive and parking area will be paved. The Director of Building and Engineering will
determine if additional stormwater management will be required. Staff has been on site and
found the property to be well maintained with no excessive noise from the dogs. Plan
Department has not received any complaints, however, the Police Department indicated that
one complaint was received over the past year.
Mayor De Angelis asked the petitioner if he wished to speak on this matter. Mrs. Peterson
had nothing to add.
Mayor De Angelis asked for members in the audience to address the Commission with their
comments or concerns.
Mr. John Henneberry, S93 W19979 Henneberry Drive, is in the process of building a home in
this area and has received complaints from construction workers regarding the noise from the
dogs. Mr. Henneberry objects to an increase in number of dogs to be boarded due to the
excessive noise and has a concern with an increase in traffic if additional dogs are permitted.
Mrs. Marilee Henneberry, S93 W19721 Henneberry Drive, objects to an increase in number of
dogs due to the noise. Mrs. Henneberry stated that she has not complained about the noise,
but strongly objects to additional dogs being boarded.
Mr. Dale Henneberry, S93 W19675 Henneberry Drive, also is in the process of building a
home and has received complaints from construction workers about the noise from the dogs.
Mr. Henneberry stated that the traffic on the weekends is terrible and would only get worse
with an increase in dogs.

Ms. Donna Klumb, S92 W20084 Henneberry Drive, opposes the additional number of dogs.
Traffic on weekend is difficult and feels that the noise would be worse if additional dogs are
allowed.
Alderman Sanders addressed Commission stating that he has received numerous calls from
residents in this area regarding the noise factor. The addition of fifty (50) dogs will have a
substantial impact in this area. Traffic is also a concern. Alderman Sanders asked the
Commission to consider the issues that will impact the neighbors.
Mayor De Angelis stated this matter would be heard through a resolution under New Business
later this evening. There being no further questions or comments, the Public Hearing was
adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
