Plan Commission Minutes PC-01-20-PH1 PLAN COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES OF PUBLIC HEARING HELD JANUARY 20, 1998, 6:50 P.M. Conditional Use in accordance with Section 6.03 of the Muskego Zoning Ordinance for a service and sales establishments for automobiles, more specifically the parking of rental vehicles. Upon the petition of Erdmann Motors, for Conditional Use grant for parking of rental vehicles at the property located at the southeast corner of North Cape Road (C.T.H. OO), Loomis Road, (S.H. 36) and U.S.H. 45. Present were Mayor De Angelis, Alderman Salentine, Commissioner’s Gummer, Smith, Vitt, Schaumberg, Hulbert and Director Sadowski. Secretary reported that the Public Hearing was properly noticed in accordance with the Open Meetings Law. Mayor De Angelis declared the Hearing open at 6:50 P.M., and explained the petition. Director Sadowski stated that petitioner is requesting to park rental vehicles on the southeast corner of Highway 36 and 45. Staff suggests that access areas be paved; place a yearly review on proposal and limit number of trucks parked on paved area. Alderman Salentine stated that Alderman Slocomb advised her that there have been no problems or complaints with the trucks being parked in this area. Mayor De Angelis asked the petitioner if he wished to speak on this matter. Mr. Dale Erdmann advised that having to pave the access areas would be a hardship for him as he does not own this area but rents this space from Mr. Bouraxis. Mr. Erdmann also stated that due to demand the number of vehicles on site varies. Another concern is that this site is shared by both Mr. Erdmann and fireworks stand for a short period of time during the summer. Mr. Erdmann would like to see a patrol officer at this corner to watch the truck traffic. This is becoming a dangerous area due to trucks not coming to complete stops and traffic cutting through Mr. Erdmann’s site so as not to stop at the intersection. PHMin-Erdmann-01/20/97-Page 2 At this time, Mayor De Angelis asked for members in the audience to address the Commission with their input of concerns, questions, comments, etc. Mrs. Margaret Wertz, of Muskego, addressed the Commission stating that she felt Mr. Erdmann is being harassed by the City. Mrs. Wertz stated that the property is being kept neat and that Mr. Erdmann should be allowed to continue parking the vehicles at this site. Again, the issue of controlling the traffic at the intersection was brought to the attention of the Commission. Mayor De Angelis asked if anyone else in the audience had any comments. There were none. Mayor De Angelis stated that this matter would be heard through a resolution under New Business later this evening. There being no further questions or comments, the Public Hearing was adjourned at 7:05 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Sandra S. Asti Recording Secretary
