October 24, 2007
1. Call to Order: President D. Dominski called the meeting to order at 7:04 PM.
2. Roll Call: Also present were J. De Vito-Scalzo, S. Gould, K. Huebner, R. Jankowski, R. Melcher, S. Snyder and Director H. Sanhuber. S. Oneson and J. Schroeder were absent.
3. Pledge of Allegiance: recited.
4. Statement of Public Notice: Given in accordance with the open meeting law on October 17, 2007.
5. Approval of Minutes: R. Melcher moved to approve minutes of the September 26, 2007 and October 11, 2007 meetings and J. De Vito-Scalzo seconded. Motion carried.
6. Next Meeting Scheduled November 28, 2007.
7. Treasurer’s Report: S. Snyder moved R. Jankowski seconded motion to approve payment of October expenses of $53,927.07. Motion carried. S. Snyder moved R. Jankowski seconded
motion to approve payment of WCFLS October expenses of $5,613.85.
8. Communications
a. Communications: Thank you letters from St. Joseph's school and the New Berlin food pantry were circulated.
b. Guest Comments: None.
c. Comment Forms: They were circulated. There was a problem with a patron asking the reference librarian to do research for him. The reference librarian's job is to help patrons
do their own research.
9. Old Business
a. FOL: Murder & Mayhem has 90 people paid and we are expecting about 200.
b. Trust Fund: No statement was received.
c. Librarian’s Report: The winter computer class schedule, Bookpage and news articles about Sunday hours were circulated. The next We The People discussion is on November 6
at 6:30 pm.
d. WCFLS: Classical music downloads are now available at http://dbooks.wplc.info.
10. New Business
a. Pending Fine Disputes: None.
b. Automation/Technology: Ibistro workflow module has been upgraded.
c. Customer Survey: Reasons for not visiting reviewed. There was discussion on the Janesville Road project. Will there be a turn lane into the library? There is a public hearing
on the project on November 12 at 6:30 pm in the MHS PAC. How do we help the sick/ill/homebound patrons? Is there any provision for home delivery? Holly will check with WCFLS for
any procedures.
d. Budget Update: The Common Council denied the request for a half time staff person so there will not be Sunday hours. Per capita spending on materials is $5.81. We need to
spend $111,000 to meet the County standards.
e. December Meeting Date: Should we meet on December 19 or 26? Please check your calendars for discussion at the next meeting.
