MINUTES OF QUARTERLY MEETING HELD TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2012
Mayor Chiaverotti called the meeting to order at 6:46 p.m. Present were Commissioners
Madden, Schaumberg, Soltysiak, Glazier, Borgman, Harenda, and Wolfe, Deputy
Commissioners Burmeister, Kies and Schweitzer, Conservation Coordinator Zagar and
Deputy Clerk Blenski . The Deputy Clerk stated the meeting was noticed in accordance
with the Open Meeting Law.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Borgman moved for approval of the April 24 and June 26, 2012
minutes. Commissioner Soltysiak seconded; motion carried.
VOUCHER APPROVAL
Commissioner Soltysiak moved to approve the following vouchers: Arch
Chemicals in the amount of $2,299 and Door Professionals in the amount of
$2,988. Commissioner Glazier seconded. Mr. Zagar stated the voucher for Door
Professionals was to replace the door at the storage facility at the Boxhorn Launch.
The Lake District stores the boat and ATV in the building. The District paid for the door
as a contribution for being able to utilize the storage space. The Deputy
Commissioners supported this expenditure. Since this is a City -owned facility,
discussion took place regarding who should be responsible to pay for the door. Mr.
Zagar was directed to place this matter on a future Finance Committee agenda. Motion
carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Deputy Commissioners Update Regarding Current Condition of Lake/Bay, Water
Levels, Plant Growth, Fish and Wildlife
Deputy Commissioner Burmeister reported the following:
• During the last week and a half, the lake level has come up about 8", which has
made getting around and launching easier.
• Duck hunting has been active for the last three weeks.
• Boat travel on the entire lake has been possible since waters rose.
• Milfoil has been dropping back due to the colder weather.
• Seeing large schools of Bluegills.
Status of Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area - Land Acquisition by the DNR
Mr. Zagar stated this relates to the first item under New Business.

NEW BUSINESS
Consider Request to Financially Assist Wisconsin DNR in Land Acquisition
Real Estate Specialist Jim Jackley of the DNR was present. Mr. Jackley stated the
DNR is looking at acquiring property on the west side of the lake to expand the existing
state wildlife area. The parcel is approximately 94 acres. The DNR currently has an
option to purchase the parcel.
Mr. Jackley is requesting financial assistance from the Lake District to purchase the
parcel. It is proposed that the closing will occur by the end of the year. The Deputy
Commissioners recommended contributing $50,000 toward the acquisition. The
property has the eagle's nest on it. Federal money in the amount of $175,932 will be
available for the purchase. Mr. Jackley stated acquisition of this parcel is the most
critical. Commissioner Soltysiak moved to approve $50,000 in financial assistance
toward the acquisition. Commissioner Harenda seconded; motion carried.
Election of Secretary and Treasurer
Commissioner Soltysiak moved to elect Jill Blenski to serve as Secretary for the
Lake District and Sharon Mueller to serve as Treasurer. Commissioner Harenda
seconded; motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Harenda moved to adjourn at 7:06 p.m. Commissioner Soltysiak
seconded; motion carried.
