BMLCommM20000125BIG MUSKEGO LAKE/BASS BAY PROTECTION & REHABILITATION DISTRICT BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS (Approved) MINUTES OF MEETING HELD TUESDAY, JANUARY 25, 2000 The meeting was called to order at 7:20 p.m. by Mayor De Angelis. Also present were Commissioners Slocomb, Chiaverotti, Le Doux, Patterson, Pionek, Salentine, and Sanders, Deputy Commissioner Pilak, Lakes Project Coordinator Zagar, City Attorney Larson, Clerk -Treasurer Marenda, and Deputy Clerk Blenski. The Clerk -Treasurer reported the meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Law. Commissioner Salentine moved for approval of minutes of the 11/09/99 meeting. Commissioner Sanders seconded; motion carried. VOUCHERS - Mayor De Angelis reported that the vouchers identified on the attached sheet were paid. There were no vouchers requiring approval at this time. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Status of Rehabilitation Management, Status of Ongoing Projects, and Status of Big Muskego Lake Feasibility Study Deputy Commissioner Pilak stated that the Governor signed the paperwork. The State continues to assess potential land acquisitions around the lake; some property closings have taken place. Mr. Jim Jackley of the DNR is the contact person. Mr. Pilak will initiate the purchase of the weevils from New York at the beginning of March. NEW BUSINESS North American Lake Management Society Seminar Mr. Pilak presented information on the North American Lake Management Society seminar held in Nevada which he and Deputy Commissioner Klenz attended. The lake district was presented an award for technical excellence. Big Muskego Lake and the restoration project are well known throughout the country. A slide presentation was shown by Mr. Pilak at the seminar. . Lake District Assessments Mr. Pilak stated he received a complaint from a property owner regarding the receipt of an additional lake district assessment following the completion of a land division which created another parcel. The property owner was advised to attend the quarterly meeting but was not present. BMUBB Board of Commissioners Page 2 January 25, 2000 Update on Questionnaire for Boating Problems Deputy Commissioner Pilak stated that he has been in contact with Wayne Faust of the University of Wisconsin Extension regarding development of the questionnaire. It is anticipated that results will be able to be compiled for the annual meeting. COMMUNICATIONS AND ANY OTHER BUSINESS AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW Commissioner Sanders stated he received a request for a light to be located at the end of the channel at the boat landing. Mr. Pilak stated there is a light at the public landing and additional lighting could destroy the aesthetics of the area. He recommended that the individual directly contact Mr. Jackley at the DNR.
