ROLL CALL ■I■{��l■rr r 1.1 CITY OF VStErn_ Present were Aldermen Keith Werner, Neomi Schaumberg, and Dan Soltysiak, Philip Kiedrowski, and James Mayer. Also present were Chief Paul Geiszler and Jeff Verburght STATEMENT OF PUBLIC NOTICE Meeting properly posted publicly for viewing on Monday, April 4, 2011. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Alderman Schaumberg made a motion to approve the March 9, 2011 minutes. Phil Kiedrowski seconded. Jim Mayer asked that the minutes be amended changing "the monies would be used for scholarships for fire and police department's children" to "...scholarships for all residents of the city". Motion carried unanimously with the amendment. NEW BUSINESS Consideration of stoD sians at intersection of Gaffnev Drive & Pasadena Drive Alderman Soltysiak explained the need for stop signs at the above intersection due to speed. Chief Geiszler stated there have been no accidents at the intersection and also no complaints have been made within the past two years. He further stated there are no traffic hazards evident and no obstructions. He explained that the use of stop signs is not used for regulating speed. After discussion, Chief Geiszler will ask the Muskego Highway Department to paint a yellow line at the center of Gaffney and Pasadena. Alderman Soltysiak also requested speed surveys to be conducted in the area. Alderman Soltysiak made a motion to accept the above and Jim Mayer seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Length of Service Award Program for TCFD Jeff Verburght provided spreadsheets showing the cost of paying out in one year or spreading it over two years. He feels paying out over the span of two years would be beneficial for all involved. After much discussion a resolution was drafted stating, " The Public Safety Committee April 6, 2011 Page 2 Public Safety Committee recommends to the common council that we allow the Tess Corners Volunteer Fire Department to access the educational funds currently set aside for the dissolution agreement. The common council amend the dissolution agreement..............................and a new educational fund at a cap of $180,000 to be funded upon request of the fire department annually and details to be worked out on how it is to be administered. There is an understanding that the fire department will request funding for the retention program and funding for the educational account funding annually at budget time. Upon common council discussion the final agreement will be reviewed by the city attorney before passage to the common council for a vote." Alderman Soltysiak made a motion to accept the resolution and Phil Kiedrowski seconded and motion carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS Nothing PENDING BUSINESS Continued Review of TCFVD and EMS Response Times Chief Geiszler explained the police department does not have access to the Phoenix system used by the fire department. The police department could go to the logging recording system but it is very labor intensive and not a viable source. The committee asked the fire department for EMS data for a month at a time listing the time of the call, enroute to scene, arrival at the scene, and clearing the scene. This will be placed on pending business for May's meeting. Communications and Miscellaneous Business As Authorized By Law Report of Significant Police Department Activity Chief Geiszler stated we had a domestic altercation with the husband stabbing his wife. He has been charged with attempted homicide. Report of Significant Fire Department Activity Jeff Verburght indicated the department responded to an accident this morning where the vehicle rolled over with an adult and two children trapped inside. Minor injuries were sustained. ADJOURNMENT - Alderman Soltysiak made a motion to adjourn and Phil Kiedrowski seconded. Motion carried unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at 8:20PM. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 6:OOPM at Muskego City Hall in the Alderman's Room.
