pfcm20130718(Unapproved) CITY OF MUSKEGO POLICE & FIRE COMMISSION July 18, 2013 The regular meeting of the Muskego Police & Fire Commission was held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, in the conference room of the City of Muskego Police Department. Commissioner Gleason called the meeting to order at S:OOPM. Pledge of Allegiance Roll was taken with Commissioners Gleason, Treba, Whittow, Kuwitzky and Mooney present. Statement of Public Notice was given to the press and posted on Monday, July 15, 2013. Commissioner Kuwitzky made a motion to accept the agenda items and Commissioner Mooney seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Commissioner Mooney made a motion to accept the minutes from the April 18, 2013 meeting. Commissioner Kuwitzky seconded and motion carried unanimously. Report From the Department: ➢ Officer Mrotek has been assigned to the position of school resource officer. Officer Fons, who held the position at Bay Lane, has asked to go back to patrol. ➢ Officer Raiche is off of probation and is doing well. ➢ Officers Major, Kreft, and Petz are in the field training phase. ➢ The department is currently accepting applications for police officer in order to establish an eligibility list. ➢ National Night Out is being held on Thursday, August 8, 2013. ➢ The budget process is in the early stages and due in August. ➢ The 9-1-1 process is still continuing with the city's IT director obtaining information. ➢ There have been numerous burglaries on the east side of town with the suspect being apprehended. The stolen items were pawned for money for drugs. New Business: ➢ Chief Moser presented the study done on the implementation of a canine unit. He stated the city is very supportive of the idea and chief will be taking it to the public service committee and then to council for approval in August. Currently the department is looking into various fund raising ideas. ➢ Elections were held and Commissioner Treba made a motion for Commissioner Gleason to continue as president and Commissioner Mooney made a motion to nominate Commissioner Kuwitzky. Commissioner Kuwitzky will be the next president. Commissioner Kuwitzky nominated Commissioner Mooney for the position of secretary and no other nominations were made. Commissioner Mooney will be the upcoming secretary.
