PSM19951012• PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1995.
The meeting was called to order at 6:35 P.M. by Chairman Brian
Misko. Also present were Committee Member Rasmussen, Chief
Johnson, and Ald. Patterson. Committee Member Salentine arrived
at 7:00 P.M.
The Committee noted that the meeting was posted on 10/6/95 in
accordance with the Open Meeting Law.
The Committee reviewed the report submitted by Building Inspection
Director Chuck Dykstra on the status of Condemnations/Citations,
as attached. Chairman Misko asked that Building Inspection
Director Chuck Dykstra check the figures on the Haffner case to
see if it is a misprint.
There was nothing new to report on existing forms and ordinances.
The Committee deferred further discussion on amendments to Soil
Erosion Ordinance to the November meeting and request that the
Committee be provided with a current copy of proposed amendments.
The Committee deferred further discussion on amendments to Public
• Nuisance Ordinance to the November meeting.
A memorandum from Matt Sadowski, Director of Planning, dated
October 12, 1995, was reviewed in regard to the status of removal
of Billboard on HWY "00" in the City of Franklin. The City of
Franklin has been unable to contact the billboard owner and are
treating it as being abandoned. They have contacted the property
owner on which the billboard stands requesting that it be removed,
but the property owner is not cooperative. The City of Franklin
does have a provision in their sign ordinance that addresses the
removal of abandoned signs, whereby the sign can be removed with
cost being billed and ultimately placed on tax bill of property
owner. The City of Franklin has advised that they will be
persuing this route.
Chief Johnson presented the Committee with the results of a survey
on the request for stop sign at Longfellow & Saroyan Road. In his
opinion, no action is required at this time.
Chief Johnson reported on the informal meeting with lake
representatives of Little Muskego Lake to discuss safety issues.
Chief is looking at increased lake patrol hours for 1996 and the
purchase of a wave runner to help in patrolling. Some of the
problems are due to congestion at certain times. Ald. Rasmussen
asked for update on 5252, Boating Ordinance, and its impact on
potential ordinances in Muskego.
Chief Johnson discussed with the Committee the addition of street
sign requirements in Subdivider's Agreements. He recommended that
