PSM19950511• PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSREGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD THURSDAY, MAY 11, 1995 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Misko. Also present were Committee Members Salentine and Rasmussen, Police Chief Johnson, Building Inspection Director Chuck Dykstra, Ald. Patterson, Mayor De Angelis (arrived at 7:05 P.M.) and those per the attached list. The meeting was posted on 5/8/95 in accordance with the Open Meeting Law. The Committee reviewed the attached report on the status of condemnations/citations with Building Inspection Director Chuck Dykstra. Building Inspection Director Chuck Dykstra reviewed with the Committee the following updated forms: Multifamily - 3 or more units - Plan Review Fact Sheet 1 & 2 Family Plan Review Fact Sheet Code Compliance Form Deck Permit Information Permit Requirements for Decks • Commercial Business, Office, Industrial New/Additions Alterations - HVAC Plan Review Inspector Checklist Chief Johnson reviewed with the Committee the speed survey for Sherwood Circle in the vicinity of Poe's Place. The survey indicated that speed is not a factor in the immediate vicinity of Poe's Place as vehicles were all in the under 30 mph range. Chief Johnson indicated that stop signs do not control speed except in the direct area of the stop sign and recommends special speed enforcement in that area to keep the few serious violations down to a minimum. Ald. Patterson indicated that demographics of areas has changed with an increase in kids. Alderman Salentine moved to have Police Department pursue enforcement during the month of June and report back to the Committee at the July meeting. Seconded by Ald. Rasmussen, motion carried 3-0. Chief Johnson also reviewed with the Committee the speed survey on Hillendale Drive in the vicinity of Mill Valley School. The survey indicated general compliance with the existing speed limit of 35 mph and Chief is recommending no change in speed limit. Ald. Salentine moved to deny request. Seconded by Ald. Rasmussen, motion carried 3-0. The Committee further reviewed request to sign recreation trail on CTH L between Durham Drive & Bay Lane which has been referred to • the Parks & Recreation Board. Ald. Salentine requests that Wausau Insurance Company be contacted to determine liability. Seconded by Ald. Rasmussen, motion carried 3-0. PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - PAGE 2 May 11, 1995 • Mr. Gene Bigari and Mr. Todd Weisbrod appeared before the Committee to request speed limit signs be posted on either ends of Lions Parks Drive at Pioneer and CTH L (Janesville Rd.). Ald. Salentine moved to have Public Works Supt. Loughney erect the 25 mph signage for residential area as requested. Seconded by Ald. Rasmussen, motion carried 3-0. Mr. Thomas Quartullo appeared before the Committee to request installation of posts and metal guardrails on Hillendale Drive because of previous accidents. Ald. Salentine moved to request Chief Johnson to do a traffic study for the area and also provide a review of the potential installation of guardrails including length. Seconded by Ald. Rasmussen, motion carried 3-0. Mr. David Fuller appeared before the Committee to request "No Parking" signs on Woods Road & Bay Lane because of narrow shoulders. Mr. Fuller indicated that he plans to expand the parking lot of the Rider's Inn in June. Ald. Salentine moved to request Supt. Loughney to install "No Parking" signs on the north side of Woods Road, from Bay Lane to Bay Lane Place. Seconded by Ald. Rasmussen, motion carried 3-0. The Committee determined that future Public Safety Committee meetings should be scheduled on the 2nd Thursday of every month starting at 6:30 P.M. • The meeting adjourned at 9:10 P.M.
