November 2, 1994, in regard to a safety study that had been
requested for Cornell Circle. The results of the traffic study
and complaints received over the past four years were reviewed by
the Committee. Ald. Woodard moved to approve the following
recommendations:
1. Place an additional speed limit sign on each
straight leg of the circle for eastbound vehicles
leaving the area. Signs should be erected at or
near S70 W15051 and W150 S6941 Cornell Circle.
2. The City or District Alderperson do a mailing
requesting closer compliance with the speed limit
to the four and eight family units at the west end
• of Cornell Circle.
3. Citizens should be encouraged to spot problem
vehicles and call the Police Department with a
description, license number, if possible, and
time of day problem vehicle usually passes. That
information can be furnished to the Police Dept.
anonymously.
Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion carried.
Chief Johnson reviewed with the Committee results of safety study
done at the intersection of Diamond Drive and Gold Drive to
determine if the intersection could be made safer for vehicles
entering Gold Drive from Diamond Drive. Short of redesigning the
intersection, it is the Police Department's determination that
there is nothing else that can be done to make the intersection
safer. The Public Works Department has been requested to erect
additional speed limits signs on Gold Drive for both north and
southbound traffic.
