PSM19930114• PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 1993 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Simmons. Also present were Committee Members Sanders and Misko, Building Inspection Director Chuck Dykstra and those per the attached list. The Committee reviewed the Public Safety Committee minutes of December 9, 1992, and placed on file. Building Inspection Director Chuck Dykstra reviewed with the Committee the attached reports on condemnations and citations. The Committee agreed to give Ms. Martin (S65 W17844 Martin Drive) to the end of January 1993 to comply with razing building. The Committee reviewed the proposed changes to the existing forms: Deck Permit Information - Ald. Sanders moved to approve hand-out with the following changes: FEES: 8. a. Change 230 square feet to 120 square feet. • INSPECTIONS: 9. d. Add: A minimum of 24 hours in advance. Seconded by Ald. Simmons, motion carried. Submittal Requirements for New One And Two Family Homes and Basic Residential - Ald. Misko moved to approve. Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion carried. Basic Residential Outbuilding Information - Ald. Sanders moved to approve of the handout with the following changes: FEES: 8. b. Change: cubic volume to square feet. 8. c. Change: $5.50 per 1,000 cubic feet of volume to .084V per square feet INSPECTIONS: d) Add after "applicant": A minimum of 24 hours in advance. Seconded by Ald. Misko, motion carried. The Committee reviewed the present Sprinkler Ordinance. Ald. Misko moved to recommend approval of the following amendments: 32.01 (6) Definitions: . Add: 32.01 (17) "Garage" means any structure that has the ability to drive a vehicle into the Building for parking or repair. Public Safety Committee - Page 2 January 14, 1993 • Table 32.02 (A) - Add to Title: Factory -Office -Mercantile Amend to read: *Means any legally established public thoroughfare or all-weather hard surface area 30 ft. or more in width and located no more than 20 ft. or less than 10 ft. from building. Streets must extend at least 50% of the length of the side of building and must be accessible by more than one means to firefighting equipment. Surface must be posted, "No Parking Fire Lane". Building must have access from this surface. 4-Hour walls shall not count as a street. 32.02 (2)(c) Motels and Hotels - Sprinklers required throughout the building (delete existing text) 32.02 (2)(d) Theaters and Places of Assembly (New Chart) 32.02 (2)(e) Change to: Hospitals/Medical Centers - Sprinklers required throughout the building (delete existing text) 32.02 (2) (g) Change to: Schools, Colleges, and Universities 32.02 (2)(j) Garages (New Table) - Delete 1. and 2. and • renumber 3. and 4. to be 1. and 2. 32.02 (2)(k) Other Properties Requiring Protection - Delete 1. and 2. and renumber 2b. to 1. and 3. and 4. to 2. and 3. 32.02 (2)(1) New Section: Day Care Centers A. Sprinklers required throughout with 20 or more children. B. All buildings not occupied 24 hours a day shall include alarm monitoring to an approved service. All charts to include the same notes as on bottom of Table 32.02 A. revised. Seconded by Ald. Public Safety Committee - Page 3 January 14, 1993 The Committee reviewed the proposed revisions to Chapter 30 of the Building Code and recommended approval. The Committee reviewed the present hunting regulations with those in attendance. Ald. Sanders moved to refer to the Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee to review the use of single shot projectile at rifle ranges and target ranges. Seconded by Ald. Misko, motion carried.
