The Committee reviewed the Public Safety Committee minutes of
September 3, 1992 and placed on file.
Chuck Dykstra reviewed with the Committee the attached reports
on condemnations and citations.
Ald. Misko moved to direct Chuck Dykstra to send a letter to
Mr. Verhalen (S65 W17860 Martin Drive) to correct the
violations on his tow truck. Seconded by Ald. Simmons, motion
carried.
No new forms or ordinances were discussed.
The Committee reviewed correspondence from Lt. Daly regarding a
survey of accidents that occurred at the curve on Tess Corners
Drive at Cornell Drive. Lt. Daly is recommending that two 4' x
8' yellow warning signs, with a horizontal arrow on each, be
placed on the west side of Tess Corners Drive, south of Cornell
Drive. One sign would be visible to northbound drivers and the
other to southbound drivers. The signs would warn approaching
traffic of the sharp turn in the roadway and should result in
drivers reducing their speed. Aid. Misko moved to direct
Superintendent Loughney to purchase and install the above
warning signs. Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion carried.
The Committee discussed with Ald. Misko the status of Parks &
Recreation Department inquiry as to whether or not it is legal
to launch boats from lake access sites. Ald. Misko reported
that he had checked and it is legal to launch boats from lake
access sites so no signs are needed at this time.
Ald. Misko presented a request for "Caution -Children at Play"
sign to be installed on Oakhill Drive. Ald. Misko moved to
approve and requests that Superintendent Loughney install
"Children At Play" signs 150 ft. away from the property
addressed at W167 56811 Oak Hill Drive on each side of the
street. Seconded by Ald. Simmons, motion carried.
The Committee deferred discussion on speeding on Haven Drive
until the November meeting in order to allow Chief Johnson to
conduct a traffic survey and report back to the Committee.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
