PSM19920808• PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AUGUST 8, 1992
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Acting Chairman
Sanders. Also present were Committee Member Misko, Mayor
Salentine and Building Inspection Director Chuck Dykstra.
The Committee reviewed the Public Safety Committee minutes of
July 9, 1992, and placed on file.
Building Inspection Director Chuck Dykstra reviewed with the
Committee the attached report on condemnations and citations.
No new forms or ordinances were discussed.
The Committee discussed written request for reduction in speed
limit on Durham Drive and Cornell Circle received from Kim
Szalacinski (S69 W14822 Cornell Circle) along with reviewing
correspondence from Chief Johnson recommending that the speed
limit remain the same for the following reasons:
1. There is a minimal accident history for that road.
2. The average speed of vehicles using the road is
35 - 37 mph.
• 3. Citizens observing traffic from their own yards
generally estimate the speed higher than it is.
Ald. Misko moved to recommend that the speed limit remain at 35
mph. Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion carried.
The Committee reviewed correspondence from Waukesha County
regarding possible reduction in speed limit on CTH L. In order
to facilitate the City's request to extend the present 35 mph
zone further west to 50 yards west of Golden Country Drive, the
County would have to secure the consent of the Wisconsin
Department of Transportation. Ald. Misko moved to request
Waukesha County to proceed to secure consent to extend the
present 35 mph zone further west of Golden Country Drive.
Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion carried.
The Committee deferred action on the request for seasonal "No
Parking" signs at Jewel Crest, Garnet and Topaz that was put on
the agenda by Ald. Schneider.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Ald. Brian R. Misko
Secretary
