PSM19911003CORRECTED PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO • MINUTES OF MEETING HELD OCTOBER 3, 1991 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Taube. Also present were Committee Member Simmons and Patterson, Mayor Salentine, Building Inspection Director Chuck Dykstra, Ron Ford and Mrs. Stanley Dunahee. Mrs. Dunahee appeared before the Committee to question moving up report for Building Inspector Director to be raised to the 18 month salary level and if it had been discussed by the Public Safety Committee. Mayor advised that the matter was handled by the Finance Committee. The Committee discussed minutes of the previous meeting and determined that the "No Parking" sign on Elm Drive will be replaced if any problems arise from the sign being taken down. The "No Parking" signs for the Willow Pond Subdivision have not been installed. The Building Inspection Director will check with the Developer on the status of the signs. The Committee reviewed the status of the attached report on condemnations. The Committee reviewed Finance Committee's recommendation to free up two hours per day for the Building Inspection Director to conduct plan reviews, department inspections and to review materials for commercial • test. The Finance Committee, at their meeting held October 2, 1991, recommended moving the Building Inspection Director to the 18 month salary level on his 6 month anniversary, subject to commercial test completion. The Mayor and Clerk will assist the Building Inspection Director with plan items in the interim. A job description for the Plan Director was reviewed and the Committee moved to proceed with advertising for a Planner, with a salary range of $27,250 to $30,900. The ad should be placed in the League of Municipalities, Milwaukee Journal, trade publications, etc. The Committee tabled request for sign to indicate dead end road on Pasadena Drive, which was referred from the Public Hearing Minutes for the Valley View Heights Sewer and Water Project, as the streets are now torn up as a result of the sewer and water project. Mr. Ron Ford appeared before the Committee to discuss all -terrain vehicles running on City right-of-ways. Mr. Ford requested that the Police Department enforce the misuse of these vehicles throughout the City. Most of the problem is in the ditches which are Waukesha County right-of-ways. The local settling ponds are full and not working. The Building Inspection Director was requested to contact several land owners to post further assistance to control erosion control. W187 57825 Janesville Road (Benson Oil Co.) This case was adiourned until October 26. 1991. Lake Forest Subdivision (Terra Development) A meeting last week with representatives of Lake Forest resulted in many of the existing problems being brought forward for discussion. At this meeting, Bob Patch stated that he would need some additional time to bring the site into compliance. The previous deadline was the end of September. I told Bob that we would schedule an inspection for the llth of October. • Drive (Esther Hartman No change since last month. A letter will be sent regarding the existing building debris still on the site, and informing Mrs. Hartman of the need to come in and apply for permits to restore the garage and storage shed to safe conditions if she intends to leave them on site. 5102 W18758 Kelsey Drive (Tewes) No change to report on this property since meeting of September 12. A letter will be sent reminding the owners of their prior commitment to remove the building by November. W195 56776 Hillendale Drive (Froelich) Mr. Bailey, the gentleman who has the option on the Froelich property, will be in next week to discuss plans for subdividing this property. Discussion regarding this home site will be interjected during this meeting. 0
