PSM19890803• PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES 01' MEETING HELD AUGUST 3, 1989 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Taube. Also present were Committee Members D. Sanders and Patterson, Mayor Salentine, Ald. Hilt, Director and Land Use Administrator G. P. Lee and those per the attached list. The Committee reviewed a memorandum dated August 3, 1989, from G. P. Lee which gave the following update on the status of condemnations: Gene's Club Durham - 12532 W. Loomis Road Windows and doors removed as of August 1, 1989. Building stan s. Ald. Dumke will contact owner and report to Chairman Taube. Steinhauer - S80 W16850 Woods Road - The cottage was removed. S74 W17310 & S74 W17314 Lake Drive - Ald. Hilt was notified by letter on July 14th to contact the neighbors to give them 30 days to comply with the order for the dilapidated building used for a boat house near the lake. Ald. Hilt reviewed with Committee and it was determined that the City should proceed with 40 condemnation. W172 S7441 Center Drive - On July 14, 1989, Ald. Hilt was given t e opportunity to contact the realtor or the heirs regarding this property. Ald. Hilt reviewed with Committee and it was determined that the City should proceed with condemnation. The Committee further discussed traffic concerns on Ranch Drive & Earl Drive with Chief Johnson and reviewed memorandum from Public Works Superintendent Loughney dated August 3, 1989. Chief Johnson noted accident report of the area. Ald. Patterson moved to replace the present engineering grade curve and arrow sign with reflective diamond grade signs, to remark centerline, and dangerous curve sign and trim any trees blocking view. Seconded by Ald. D. Sanders, motion carried. The Committee reviewed traffic problem on Jewel Crest Drive with Chief Johnson. A recent traffic study was done in the area and the accident rate was not overly high. The study suggests that more curve signs be erected. Ald. Taube moved to install additional curve signs along Jewel Crest and install "School Bus Stop Ahead" signs at both sides of the property addressed W186 S6746 Jewel Crest Drive. Seconded by Ald. Patterson, motion carried. • • Public Safety Committee - Page 2 • August 3, 1989 The Committee reviewed information from Waukesha County on proposed installation of traffic signal on Racine Avenue & Woods Road. Mayor Salentine and Chief Johnson will be appearing before the County Board of Engineering on August 23rd to question whether the County will pay $6,500 co -pay and take over maintenance. The Committee discussed possible parking restriction on Briargate with Ald. Hilt. The Committee directed Supt. Loughney to install "No Parking" signs on the north side of Briargate, west of Meadow Drive to Lannon Drive. The meeting adjourned at 8:25 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Ald. David Sanders Secretary ca
