PSM19890504• PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 4, 1989
The meeting was called to order at 7:04 P.M. by Chairman Taube.
Also in attendance were Committee Members Patterson and D.
Sanders, Police Chief Johnson, and Director and Land Use
Administrator G. P. Lee.
The Committee reviewed the following status of Condemnations with
G. P. Lee:
1. Gene's Club Durham - 12532 W. Loomis Rd.
On 1/5/89, G. P. Lee brought this cottage to the attention
of Aldeman Dumke and was informed that the Public Safety
Committee should take whatever action necessary to have the
building torn down.
Action: The Committee recommended that G. P. Lee write to
t1—finer requesting that the cottage next to his tavern be
razed. If not complied with within 30 days, condemnation
procedures will begin.
2. Steinhauer - S80 W16850 Woods Road
• On 4/6/89, Alderman Simmons was contacted regarding the
cottage on Woods Road with an explanation as to City policy
asking the aldermen to try for voluntary removal. On April
7, 1989, Paul DeAngelis submitted a memorandum in which he
states that a value of $500.00 be placed on the structure to
indicate a salvage value. The building is in danger of
structural collapse and unsanitary and unsafe.
Action: G. P. Lee is to notify Alderman Simmons of the
omm ttee's intent to condemn building immediately and
notify the City Attorney that papers should be sent to owner
notifying him of condemnation procedures.
3. Lot 6 & 7 - Tess Corners Drive
This stone structure sits at the rear of the property
shielded by trees and brush and is an invitation to
trespassers. Alderman Simmons has been notified of possible
condemnation. Alderman Simmons has inspected property and
has given owner 30 days to board up the building or the
De artment of Planning & Development will issue a
citation. I have received a letter from the owner stating
that the building will be boarded up and the lot cleaned.
. Action: Action deferred until June Public Safety meeting to
inspect premises.

4. S83 W16048 Bass Bay Ln.
On 1/13/89, Alderman Repischak was requested to contact
owner to have building voluntarily removed. Upon
inspection, it was determined that repairs would exceed 50%
of the value. The City has been notified by the Wisconsin
Electric Company that the electric service is a hazard. This
building is on the tax roll as personal property, but the
land around belongs to another owner and has been for
sale. The assessed value of this property is $3,500.
Action: The Committee directed G. P. Lee to follow through
wilt condemnation procedures since it has been over a year
since first notification.
5. S74 W17314 Lake Drive
There are two principal buildings and an accessory garage or
boat house on this property. Because of the condition of
the buildings, the Assessor has determined this as having no
value other than some salvageable material.
• Action: The Committee directed G. P. Lee to contact
man Hilt requesting that he meet with the affected
property owner to discuss condemnation.
The Committee reviewed minutes of previous meeting and requested
that John Loughney be contacted to correct signage on North Shore
Lane.
Further discussion was held regarding the request for relocation
of street light on Racine Avenue at the entrance to Woodcrest
Heights Subdivision. Ald. Taube stated that the Committee must
determine who pays for it; the Developer or the Finance
Committee. G. P. Lee stated that the City's policy is that the
street light is only to mark the intersection and Chief Johnson
added that the street light should light the street sign. Ald.
Patterson moved that G. P. Lee contact the Developer to determine
if he is interested in relocating the street light and if he will
accept cost. Seconded by Ald. Taube, motion carried.
The Committee further reviewed correspondence from Jackie
Schweitzer regarding a potential arking problem at Union Church
Road (former Patti g Del's Tavern . Waste Management owns
property and has indicated that they will specify "No Parking"
along east side of building, with the exception that delivery
• trucks will be allowed to park when delivering goods to the
tavern.
