PSM19881013CORRECTED PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD OCTOBER 13, 1988 . The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by Chairman David Taube. Also present were Committee Members Sanders and Patterson, Director and Land Use Administrator G. P. Lee, Police Chief Johnson and those per the attached list. Tess Corners Fire Chief Phil Dibb appeared before the Committee expressing his desire to upgrade the installation of fire detectors within the City and to bring the requirements closer to the Wisconsin smoke detector laws. G. P. Lee stated that when a home is sold a Code Compliance inspection must transpire before a new owner can legally occupy. One of the conditions is that the property have an operational smoke detector. The Committee deferred action until the November meeting in order to more thoroughly study the smoke detector laws of the State of Wisconsin. Mr. Howard Schneider, on behalf of the Little Muskego Lake Association, appeared before the Committee and reviewed areas of soil erosion which he believes are in violation of the local Soil Erosion Ordinance. G. P. Lee stated the problems inherent with enforcing the Soil Erosion Ordinance with the current construction contractors and that his Department is attempting to enforce the Ordinance as best they are able. *Ald. Patterson moved to approve the installation of two • intersection street lights at Meadow Green Subdivision at the inlet intersections (Lannon Drive and Woods Road). Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion carried. The Committee reviewed 15 mph school zone signs on Racine Avenue, north and south of Muskego High School. The Committee requests that a letter be sent to Waukesha County to ask that the speed limit signs be installed in both directions on Racine Avenue in order to be enforced and to inquire as to the possibility of installing an arterial traffic control light to be used during peak hours. The Committee reviewed condemnations with G. P. Lee who informed the Committee that Mr. Ken Brown on North Cape Road has received a loan for construction of a new home. The Committee requests that G. P. Lee contact the lending institution to verify loan approval. Ald. Patterson moved that costs of the title search for this propoerty be paid by Mr. Brown as the title search cost was incurred with condemnation procedures. Seconded by Ald. Taube, motion carried. The Committee recommended that the Department of Planning & Development and the Police Department review the replacement of lights with respect to desired brightness for the affected areas.
