PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 10, 1987
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 P.M. by Chairman Taube.
Also present were Committee Members Patterson and Sanders, Mayor
Salentine, Building Inspector G. P. Lee and those per the
attached list.
Building Inspector G. P. Lee appeared before the Committee to
discuss the condemnation of the building addressed W186 S7645
Lincoln Drive. This building was originally inspected in
September, 1986. On March 23, 1987 the Building Inspector
recommended condemnation. At the April 3, 1987, Public Safety
Committee Meeting, the Committee moved to direct the Building
Inspector to proceed with condemnation. Building Inspector Lee
advised the Committee that on September 2, 1987, he met with Mr.
Russell and Attorney Collins regarding the condemnation order and
they agreed to submit plans and acquire the necessary permits to
recondition this building so it conforms to all existing
ordinances. Ald. Patterson moved to issue the permits for repair
and to direct the Building Inspector to notify the City Attorney
of the change of the status of the condemnation order. The
Committee is requiring that a progress report be submitted to the
Public Safety Committee for their October meeting. If this work
is not accomplished by the October meeting, a bond of $3,000 will
be required to insure that work is done. Seconded by Ald.
Sanders, motion carried. The Committee requests that the
Building Inspector inspect the back of the property for drainage
and erosion.
Building Inspector Lee also reported on the following
condemnations:
W172 S7473 Center Drive - Garage has been razed
W172 S7505 Lannon Drive - Garage will be torn down shortly
S86 W13971 Priegel Drive - Order has been received
from Judge for City to proceed in tearing down
building - No objections from owners.
S78 W16355 Woods Road - Bayside Inn - Work very close
to completion and letter releasing owner will be
drafted by Building Inspector.
W126 S9485 North Cape Road - Have requested extension
- Intends to raze but looking for place to rent.
The Committee reviewed correspondence from Chief Johnson dated
August 25, 1987, reporting on the results of a survey of the Idle
Isle parking area. The weekend of August 1 and 2, 1987, the
Police Department counted seven (7) vehicles with trailers parked
on city streets each day. Two of the seven were city
residents. There were no vehicles without trailers that
weekend. The following weekends August 8 and 9, August 15 and
16, and August 22 and 23 no overflow was reported due to rain or
cool conditions. The Committee recommended that survey be
discontinued until next year.

• The Committee discussed speeding on Kristin Drive. Ald. Taube
• advised the Committee that the speed is being monitored by the
Police Department
The Committee reviewed proposed Ordinance #582 - Amendment to
Chapter 16 of the Plumbing Code. Building Inspector advised the
Committee that the changes are mainly due to the State mandating
that the City shall not issue permits nor inspect wells, pumps
and adapters. Other changes are because we have gone to a part-
time plumbing inspector and, as a result, have lost our municipal
agency that examines plumbing plans.
Ald. Taube informed the Committee of a parking complaint he has
received on West Tower Drive. A resident on West Tower Drive has
trouble backing out of his garage because of cars parked in his
way on opposite side of street. The Committee recommends that
the City Clerk notify all residents on West Tower Drive, by
letter, and ask their cooperation in this matter. If the
situation continues, the Committee will again review the request
of "No Parking" signs.
The meeting adjourned at 8:28 P.M.
