PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JUNE 42 1987
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Chairman Taube.
Also present were Committee Members Patterson and Sanders and
Police Chief Johnson.
The Committee reviewed correspondence from Chief Johnson in
regard to a traffic survey on Lion's Park Drive. A suggestion
was made that Lion's Park Drive could be closed permanently to
thru traffic by creating a cul-de-sac on the north end which
would close off the intersection with Racine Avenue. The control
of thru traffic with signs would be very difficult, particularly
by creating a one-way (north to south) road. The closing off of
traffic would also create a safer environment for activities at
Lion's Park. A Public Hearing would have to be held for people
living on Lion's Park Drive and those in the Oak Grove area. A
current traffic survey, dated May 29, 1987, shows an excessive
traffic load for a residential street. Ald. Taube will talk to
all residents of the affected area to determine their feelings on
the problem and possible solution and report back to the July
meeting.
It was noted that a request for traffic signs in the Industrial
Park has been made by several truckers using the roads and the
Safety Committee suggested that this be placed on next month's
agenda.
Ald. Taube moved to deny a request for a "Caution -Children" sign
on Crowbar & Field Drive due to the fact that Crowbar is a rural
road and the home is set back at least 50 yards. Seconded by
Ald. Patterson, motion carried.
The Committee reviewed update on the following Condemnations
provided by Building Inspector Lee: Bayside Tavern, W186 S7645
Lincoln Drive, W126 S9485 North Cape Road. Ald. Taube moved that
the Building Inspection Department proceed with condemnation
orders.
Ald. Taube moved that the Building Inspector secure a cost
estimate for the removal of the building at S86 W13971 Priegel
Drive as recommended by the City Attorney. Seconded by Ald.
Patterson, motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M.
