PSM19861020• PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD OCTOBER 20, 1986 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Taube at 7:04 P.M. Also present were Committee Members Sanders and Penovich, Ald. DeAngelis, Ald. Patterson, Ald. Hilt, Lt. Daley and those per the attached list. It was determined that the intersection of Gaulke Court and Tess Corners Drive is accident prone partially due to the type of curve at that intersection and the fact that the present posted speed limit is 35 m.p.h. The situation becomes more hazardous during inclement winter weather. Ald. Penovich moved that a 25 m.p.h. advisory curve sign be placed below the existing curve sign on Tess Corners Drive. Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion carried. The Committee reviewed request for "No Parking" signs on Island Drive and Muskego Drive. It was determined that parked cars on Muskego Drive obstruct the vision of motorists who attempt to enter Muskego Drive from Island Drive and cause a safety hazard for children who have to cross Muskego Drive to board a school bus. Ald. Taube moved to erect a "No Parking" sign on the northwest corner 45 feet from the setback of the center of Island • Drive. A potential safety hazard in Guernsey Meadows was brought to the attention of the Safety Committee. Automobiles exiting from Highway 24 onto Lakes Parkway have a tendency, due to existing curve, to veer into the opposite lane of traffic on Lakes Parkway. The Committee decided that Supt. Bertram be requested to paint a yellow line down the center of Lakes Parkway to Daisy Drive and on Daisy Drive to Vine Street. If the yellow line does not solve the problem, the Committee will then direct Bert to erect a curve sign with a 15 m.p.h. speed limit prior to the curve on Lakes Parkway. Due to the relatively light traffic at North Shore Drive & Bosch Drive, the Public Safety Committee denied a request to install a street light at that intersection. The Committee reviewed Building Inspector Lee's correspondence to the Committee regarding status of condemnation of S86 W13971 Priegel Drive. The Committee would like Attorney Macy to respond to Building Inspector Lee's opinion that if Mr. Frank Priegel, Jr. has given up his personal rights to the property, is there any reason why he cannot serve as administrator of the estate and have the condemnation proceed. C • Public Safety Committee - Page 2 October 20, 1986 Progress is being noted on the outstanding items on the refurbishing of the Bayside Tavern according to a letter dated September 22 and a recent discussion with Building Inspector Lee and Ald.
