PSM19851211PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD DECEMBER 11, 1985
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Taube at 7:00 P.M.
Also present were Committee Member Patterson, Building Inspector
Lee, Chief Johnson and those per the attached list.
The Committee reviewed past recommendations of placing "Slow -
Children" signs on Agate Drive. Local residents represented by
Linda Delaney and Jean Zaremba reported neighbors would not
object to adding "Deaf Child" to the slow sign. Ald. Patterson
moved that two 'Slow Children Deaf Child" signs be placed on
Agate Drive between Gold and gmO Street. The first near
Diamond facing North and the second near Gold facing South.
Seconded by Ald. Taube, motion carried.
The Committee discussed snowmobiling on Idle Isle and other city -
owned properties. Ald. Taube moved to approve snowmobiling on
city -owned park land in designated areas subject to approval of
the Parks and Recreation Board. Ald. Patterson seconded, motion
carried.
The Committee reviewed its decision to install two-way stop signs
. on Parkland Drive at the intersection of Avon Court and Eaton
Court. After listening to suggestions and reviewing prior
traffic counts from Chief Johnson, Ald. Patterson moved to defer
further action for 60 days. During this time the Chief has been
requested to provide extra radar patrols in this area to see if
this would solve the problem. Seconded by Ald. Taube, motion
carried.
The Committee deferred the re-evaluation of Outside signs-Muskego
High School and again requested Superintendent Matheson supply
any suggestions of what he feels is needed.
The Committee deferred the discussion of "Discharge of Firearms
within the City Limits" until next meeting due to lack of
information.
The Committee discussed the condemnation of W192 S7202 Hillside
Drive with Building Inspector Lee and Mr. Ron Olson, owner.
Inspector Lee reported some work had been done by the owner, but
it did not meet code requirements. Inspector Lee is sending a
letter to Mr. Olson listing exactly what must be done to obtain
an occupancy permit. Ald. Patterson moved to delay the issuing
of an Occupancy Permit until all repairs have been approved by
the Building Inspection Department. All recommendations by Mr.
Lee will be given, in writing, to Mr. Olson. Attached is a copy
of the December 13, 1985 letter to Mr. Olson listing specific
. requirements. All work must be approved by Inspector Lee. Any
deviations from said letter will be at Inspector's Lee's
descretion. Seconded by Ald. Taube, motion carried.
0 The meeting adjourned at 8:50 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Ald. Patrick Patterson

Re: W192 S7202 Hillside Dr.
Dear Sir:
Further inspection of your dwelling unit located at the address above
revealed that total compliance has not been met for the eight items
. listed on the Certificate of Noncompliance of October 23,1985. Items
that do not comply are: No.3, whereas the deck is not constructed to
carry the necessary live load required by code. No. 5, was
unaccessible and therefore not inspected and the water report not made
available. No.7, the foundation has not been sufficiently re -enforced
or tuckpointed properly. An inspection was made of the upstairs which
was not made available for the Oct.23,1985 inspection. The following
items must be corrected in addition to those listed above. 1. Masonry
chimney to be properly tuckpointed. 2. The floor will not carry the
necessary design load of 40 lbs.per sq.ft. as required by code because
of damage, rot,or decay. 3. The upstairs addition cantilevered to the
north should be removed because of the hole in the wall and ceiling
and also will not carry the live load required by the code. The
windows need repairs 4. The roof must be patched temporarily 5.
Plumbing permit required,done without permit.
You are hereby given ten days to obtain a licensed plumber to acquire
the necessary permit so the kitchen sink in the lower unit can be
tested and inspected in accordance with 82.21 of the Plumbing Code.
Failure to comply will result in the issuance of a citation for doing
plumbing without a permit.
Sincerely,
Gerald P.Lee
Building Inspector
