PSM198406070 PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JUNE 7, 1984
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Nilsson at
7:00 P.M. Also present were Committee Member Hilt, Ald.
DeAngelis, Mayor Salentine, Lt. Johnson, Superintendent Bertram,
Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Konkel, Mr. John McAdams, and Mr. Gilbert
Spieler. Ald. Dumke was absent.
The Committee discussed proper sign posting on one-way streets
(Oak Grove and Kingston). Lt. Johnson advised that the signs are
properly posted.
The Committee tabled discussion of loading zone sign request of
The Little Store -Tess Corners because of their failure to appear
at the last two meetings.
In conjunction with reviewing the minutes of the previous
meeting, Mr. Gilbert Spieler commented on problems on Little
Muskego Lake regarding motor size and speed restrictions. The
subject will be put on the next agenda.
The Committee discussed the request for "caution -children" sign
on Ranch Drive, and acknowledged a petition received from 13
citizens indicating they were in favor of speed limit and
"children at play" signs on each end of Ranch Drive. The
Committee directed Superintendent Bertram to install the
"caution -children" sign on Ranch Drive at the intersection of
Earl.
The Committee discussed the dangerous curve sign on Muskego
Drive. The Committee directed Superintendent Bertram to remove
the tree limb which is presently obstructing the curve sign and
also to install an additional curve sign to highlight the area.
The Committee discussed the noise complaint received on Pick &
Save. Mr. McAdams of Pick & Save appeared before the Committee
and assured them that he would make a stronger effort to control
the noise. The Committee agreed that the neighbors must also
recognize that they live near a business district.
The Committee discussed no parking areas on Muskego Drive (Idle
Isle). Lt. Johnson will contact the DNR to determine if boat
launching can be restricted to the number of parking stalls at
Idle Isle.
The Committee discussed no parking -fire lane area. Lt. Johnson
stated that it had been agreed upon to have a two week phase -in
• period to make citizens aware. This period is over and the
police department will begin enforcement.

The Committee discussed the vision corner of Richards Lane and
Lake Drive. Ald. Nilsson moved to recommend a stop sign be
installed on Richards Lane at the intersection of Lake Drive.
Ald. Hilt seconded, motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 8:18 P.M.
