PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
• MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JUNE 9, 1983
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman
Colburn. Also present were Committee Member Gaetzke, Ald.
Penovich and DeAngelis and Chief Scholz
The committee discussed citizens' request for a stop sign in
40 Kristin Down. Ald. Gaetzke moved to recommend a stop sign be
installed at the SE corner of Canfield and Kristin Dr. and the
NW corner of Canfield and Kristin Dr. The motion lost for lack
of a second. Ald. Colburn advised the citizens present that
they could contact their alderman regarding this matter.
The committee recommended that G. P. Lee proceed with the
condemnation of the Bodenhagen property on Loomis Drive in
accordance with the January 6, 1983 minutes.
The committee recommended that G. P. Lee proceed with the
condemnation of the Dennis Klurrb property (former Bierbower
property.
The committee reviewed the Milwaukee Fireworks Ordinance and
recommended that the Rules, Laws and Ordinance Committee review
and adopt this ordinance.
The committee discussed the establishment of guidelines for
• the humane officer and expressed the following concerns:
1. More responsibility relating to animal pick-up,
i.e. different types of animals. The committee
felt that the humane officer should respond to
all calls to relieve the Police Department from
having to respond to these calls.
2. Apprehension of Dogs at Large.
3. Apprehension of Cats at Large.
4. Adequate salary?
5. Impoundment of Animals.
6. Method of Disposal.
7. Trapping.
8. Future use of HAWS.
9. Fine structure.
10. Methods of apprehension (tranquilizer gun?)
11. Patrol in high complaint areas.
12. Licensing of dogs (and other animals).
Discussion will continue at the next meeting.
Discussion regarding a possible amendment to Chapter 9.01 of
the Municipal Code will take place at the next meeting.
The committee deferred discussion regarding the HAWS Contract
until the next meeting.
The committee deferred discussion regarding traffic lights at
the intersection of Tess Corners Drive and Hwy. 24 until the
next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
